Are you ever spooked when home alone?

I hate being home at night alone it gives me the creeps. DH is away and DS is sound asleep, but I keep "hearing" noises and just now it felt like someone was touching my shoulder...too spooky. When I was a kid I was the same way, I used to scare myself to death. When my parents would go out (when I was a teenager) I usually left all the lights on, locked myself in my bedroom and turned up the stereo. It is so unsettling.....can't wait until the end of the week!

I'm often alone at night, I suppose I'm used to it and don't get spooked. I also have a large dog for company, I think that helps. Could you put on some happy video or something? Just for company?

{{{HUGS}}} sweetie, if I felt a hand on my shoulder when I was all alone it would frighten me too.

Where we used to live, out in the country, yes, I'd get spooked alot. Now, I'm home alone more (well, DS, a year and a half is usually sleeping by 8:30) and I'm used to it I guess. Plus, I'm alot closer to my family and friends and closer to the city.

My good friend would get spooked when we were growing up, and she'd call me freaking out, saying someone was in her house. I'd run up there and we'd check everything out. Never found anything ;). We still joke about it! LOL!

I was as a young teen....but not now! I have a big old Weimaraner to protect me, and believe me, if someone tries to get into our house, and he can sense they're uninvited, he'll tear them to shreds!

YES!!!!

That's why we're going to buy a dog before dh goes out of town again.

I *know* there is nothing there but when Im alone I wont listen to reason!

I have such a vivid and warped imagination that I can spook myself in a house full of people.  :o :o

I'm not so afraid of the bumpity in the night because I have a big, black Lab who is an excellent watchdog. He always alerts me to anything I need to know about. :D

I am very easily spooked. I hate going down in the basement when I'm home alone, especially at night! Our laundry room is in our basement, and sometimes I will make my DH come with me if I need to take a load out of the dryer! Even with 2 big dogs, I don't like being home alone.

I do sometimes get scared. My problem is, I can feel things, even in my sleep. All of a sudden I get scared and start checking windows and doors and looking out windows.
Most of the time I am alright. My big doggie helps too. My Maxie is a sweety and she would probably let the robbers in and direct them to the goods, but if she felt my uneasiness or didn't like them. She isn't such a sweety anymore.
She very rarely barks, but when she does it's a deep bark and it scares people and animals away.

I do where I live now...maybe because I know it was broken into before we moved in. And of course the dog makes it worse, barking at every little noise...'specially the acorns hitting the roof as they fall from the trees.

I get sooooo freaked out. I am such a scardy cat!!

Yes!! I'm hardly ever home by myself, but when I went on vacation, I came home 2 days earlier than the rest of my family. My parents and sister weren't home, but also my rabbit and dog were gone, so I didn't even have any pets to keep me company. I had some friends over at night, but after they left I was like ahhh!

YES!!
DH is rarely gone overnight without me but just recently he was gone for 5 nights!! It was pretty bad - I didn't get over 4 hours of sleep each night. And I have a big german shepard to protect me. Talk about being glad to see somebody :D

Guilty!
I HATE to be home alone at night. During the day Im usually ok (as long as I lock all the doors) but at night- watch out! I have 3 cats and they are as easily spooked as I am- would love a dog.. someday I guess.
Anyway, you are not alone- between my imagination and the random house noises, I freak out on a regular basis (lying in bed, heart pounding, trying to decide if dialing 911 would be an embarassing incident or if it would save my life (if, of course, the 'robber' hasnt already cut my lines!).
Having the 3 kids is worse b/c I have to decide who I would have to 'save' first- the baby (2 yrs), the 6 year old, or the 8 year old! Or, worse, would the "intruder" hurt me first and then get them? Oh dont get me started! LOL

Used to be afraid. When we were first married, I worked days and DH worked nights. Every sound spooked me.

Later, he went away to school for 5 weeks every summer. I had to adjust. Now if the doors are locked, I am okay.

I'm not afraid to be alone at night. When Ray goes into the hospital it is usually for several months at a time, so I guess I'm used to it.

But....answering the phone that rings in the middle of the night that's another story. Instant fear!

Yep! I'm afraid. I used to be okay, but after the serial killer stuff over the summer, I can hardly stand to be home alone. It's silly, really...we live in a nice neighborhood, we have two dogs, and we have an alarm system. I'm still afraid, though.

Not since our son brought home his Rottweiler to live with us. Now, when everyone is out of the house, and it's just me and our "grand-dog," Doc, I'm not at all scared. Just listening to Doc bark at strange noises he hears outside is enough to scare any would-be intruder. His bark alone sounds like it is coming from the very "depths of hell"!!! It is a very deep and threatening type of bark. I love it; it makes me feel very secure.

Not usually. Actually can't remember the last time I was scared. I usued to be awful about it though when I was younger. I'm the oldest (well, I do have a twin) of eight and so I was NEVER alone until I married and my dh worked third shift. It took me a long time to get used to it but now it's not a big deal.
