Are you doing better than four years ago?

We are doing better but I now of others who are not

Yes. But I do not give GWB the credit. Only voted for him due to his pro-life stance and that is the only reason he may get my vote in the future. Though I must say, his death penalty stance is definately NOT pro-life.

Absolutely.
In that time we had a beautiful daughter, my family is healthy and happy, I'm a better bass player than I've ever been, I've been to WDW five times, and my wife keeps getting more beautiful every day.

OK, I know what you meant.
And yes, I'm much, much better off. But all that is secondary to what's important.

Im not working but I wasnt 4 years ago either. I actually lost my ideal job in 1998.

In the past 4 years DH has left the company he worked for and went to a new one. He is making more money and has a better position. Weve been able to refinance our house which was bought in 1999 and take 11 years off the mortgage. In the past 4 years we have been able to go to WDW 5 times and on 2 Disney cruises. I would say we are doing better now. :D

We are probably a little worse off than we were in 4 years ago. I lost my part time job in May 2001 and it took 15 months to find another one with less hours and less pay. That did not help the college fund as my pay went into the college fund. So we are paying more out current income for DS college. DH has not received a raise in 3 years and his job could be outsourced at any time. I pretty much blame the greedy corporations who are outsourcing jobs so the executives and CEO's can collect more and more money. For this election, I am looking for someone who wants to be president for the American people. I am glad to hear that some people are doing better though.

I'm doing better. I bought my first house 1 1/2 years ago, my salary has increased each year and although I have bills (like everyone else), we've been able to go to Disney 3x's and taken trips to other areas. I was also able to buy a new car 2 years ago and I got to go back to school for my Master's degree (although I'm not finished yet!) I've also been able to recover my good credit after my ex stuck me with all our marital bills (not paying a penny towards anything). I was able to pay them off and get my house and car. I would say I'm DEFINITELY doing better.

I can't say that is quite a fair thing to say... 4 years ago I had just finished college and my DH was working on finishing up. After about a year after school though, I can say we were doing better financially than we are now. We are almost as good as where we were, but it's been a *very* long road coming and not much hope that it will stay that way either.

Yes, we are doing much better than four years ago. In fact our income went up about $30,000 in just the past year, but that was a bit higher than normal. Of course our taxes went up along with it.

In addition our stock and mutual funds have just about recovered from the slump. Just hope they keep going. We are just now doing our second refinance of our home in the past 16 months so our mortgage payment amounts have dropped, but we will keep putting in the same amount to pay the principle down even faster now. Lookin good.

Came back to add: I do not believe whoever is in the White House or Congress has as much effect on the economy as a lot of people think.

Yes & No. DH probably had a better paying job then, but I think our debt problem was already on the slide by then. The rising gas prices are not helping, but I am optimistic that things are going to get better for us. Of course, I think that most every year and rarely does it get much better. Que Sera Sera (sp?)

We are doing GREAT!!! Much better than four years ago! We will soon be moving to a different state with bigger incomes and even a bigger house!;) Oh yeah, by the way, I'll keep my vote with GWB!:sunny:

Yes, we are...so much in fact that I was able to quit working last summer so I could stay home with the kidlets. :D

No.

Cost of living increases and raises seem to be a thing of the past although we are lucky to still be employed. We also have additional family members to support because of some things beyond our control.

THAT is my ULTIMATE dream--to be able to stay home with my Pooh Bear. Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone willing to finance that dream yet!!!

Yes, we are better off than we were 4 years ago. Our income has gone up a bit, and we are paying about $2400 less in taxes this year than we would have been without the tax cuts.

YES YES YES

I am now retired and have an AP to WDW. I've had 3 trips to WDW since October and was able to buy DVC.

My income is a lot less (don't get full salary) but I sold a house in CA ,and I now live in a house that is paid for.

For those of you that are going through hard times. I am sorry. I lost my job several years ago, was unemployed for over a year, went through savings, 401K, got in debt, etc. Took a job a 1/2 of what I made before. the industry and town that that I was in were decimated. Been there done that. You will survive. Don't give up. It's not easy to start over but you do what you have to do.

I don't give current or past presidents credit or blame for my fortunes. It was up to me to make the best with what I got dealt. I literally started over from scratch when I was over 40.

Yes, but it has nothing to do with who is in office. I am 27 so 4 years ago...I was 23, married 1 year..delivered my first baby the end of 2000 and DH was in school.

Now DH makes more hen both of us combined I am due with my 3rd..I am a SAHM and we are in a great finacial position. It's like someone posted earlier...it is just because we got a little older.

Again to the OP I am sooo sorry you are so unhappy with your life.
