...I just finished a Rita Mae Brown 'Sister Jane' novel..."Hunt Ball".

I just finished "Hunt Ball" too! I'm currently reading Gateways by F. Paul Wilson. It's one of the Repairman Jack books.

I am reading "The Historian". Never really a fan of Vampire stories, but this one is pretty interesting. I shouldn't say reading, I am actually listening to the audiobook. They actually made a huge production out of it where several people are reading different parts, so it sounds like an old radio show. wasn't sure if I would like this format, but it's been very entertaining.

Right now I'm trying to read The Historian - I'm about half way through, but I started it this summer and never got through it. I will, though!!!

Are you finding it hard to follow along? Or is it just me? It would be nice if there was an indicator as to which person is talking.

Now I am glad that my audiobook has many readers because it is very easy to tell who is saying what.

DVCLiz, We have similar tastes in books-I finished the Historian this summer and the rest that you mentioned are on my list to read in the future! I found The Historian hard to follow at times as well. I really liked most of it. I won't say any more so I won't spoil it for anyone else. It's not a bad book at all, I'm just interested to hear what the rest of you think.
I love the Diana Gabaldon books but I am already a book behind the new one. I knew I had to go back and read the older ones or else I'd be lost before I read it and I never seem to get the time. Maybe it's because of the other stack of books I'm working my way through ;)

Almost everyone I've talked to has had trouble with The Historian - for such a good book, it's a lot of work to plough through!!!!

I am the last person on earth to be interested in a vampire story - just not my cup of tea, and I didn't understand that aspect of the story when I first bought it, so I've had to overcome a little prejudice. That said, it's not the "creepy rise up from the dead in the cemetary" kind of vampire writing, so it's been fairly easy to tolerate. What I do really like is all the stuff about the old archives and the historical research (former librarian, what can I say?) Also, I like the travel descriptions, too. I'm definitely going to finish it - but now I'm thinking I may go buy the audiobook instead. I just got into some of those, so maybe this should be my first fiction audiobook.

I finally picked up the first of the Stephanie Plum series, "One For The Money", and I'm really enjoying it!

Now that I'm over my shock of the new Gabaldon book...

I'm reading a bunch of books right now. I have four classes and I'm reading between 2-4 textbooks per class. :sad2: I literally can't keep up with the reading, so I've been skimming it all. For my children's lit class, I read between 4-8 kids books each week -- some are picture books and some are chapter books.

For pleasure, I'm re-reading the young adult book, Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke, and I just bought the sequel Inkspell which I'll start on as soon as I'm done. They are simply wonderful books -- top notch reading and just as enjoyable for adults as they are for kids.

I just finished Geisha, A Life by Mineko Iwasaki and I highly recommend it, especially if you've read Memoirs of a Geisha. (Memoirs is fiction, Geisha is an autobiography)

I read, Memoirs of a Geisha.... very interesting...

I'm reading The Partner by John Grissham.
I am about 60 pages in (just got it) and it is great!
It is about this guy that fakes his death and steals 90 mil dollars from a company and runs to brazil. Hes caught four years later and his wife finds out he's still alive. Now she and her new husband were living off of his millions of dollars of life insurance. So they plot to kill him so they can keep the money, because no life insurance if he's not really dead.
Thats as far as I've got, but its really good so far.

I just finished a book tonight called 'The Red Tent' by Anita somebody.

That was a great book! I'm reading "False Memories" by Dean Koontz right now.

I love these threads!

I'm reading The Kite Runner. About a place and time that I'm eager to learn more about. I'm only on page 20, but it's an extremely easy read. I'd be through it this week if I weren't distracted by my new "Lost" DVDs!

But I just put The Red Tent on my "to read" list. Thanks for the tip!

I just started The Undomestic Goddess by the same author as the Shopaholic series books. I'm 60 pages into it. Light reading. Next book on my list is My Sister's Keeper. I'm taking both with me to WDW and hope to get at least one finished on the plane there.

I'm reading Truman by David McCullolugh (I think that's his name--he's pretty well-known, I guess). It's 996 pages and I"m almost done. I also just finished A Salty Piece of Land by Jimmy Buffett.
Robin M.

I'm reading The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis to DD5. Does that count?

I voted yes because I have to read the first 31 pages of The Five People You Meet in Heaven before Sunday for our adult Sunday School.

I haven't started it yet, but DH finished the whole book in 2 evenings.

I'm a Danielle Steel fan, so I picked up her new book, "Impossible". The male lead is....impossible! I've been so disappointed! I would have dropped him right away, he's such a child.
