I'm conservative when it comes to fiscal issues. I don't believe in welfare. People need to get jobs and support themselves and their families. They need to pay into the system and contribute and not just take.
I'm liberal when it comes to other issues....gay marriage - all for it. Abortion - it's not up to me to decide who has kids and who doesn't. Does it annoy me that other people can just get pregnant and casually end it? Yep. But, it's not my place to make those decisions for other people.
Maybe I am picking and choosing? So what?
If I was forced to CHOOSE, I'd have to pick conservative. Why? I can't afford to make gay marriage/abortion my issue. Sadly, I need to look out for the best interest of my family. Thankfully, there are people out there who make those issues their focus. I can't. So, I tend to vote Republican, but I would love to find a candidate who didn't want to tax me into the stone age and didn't take it upon themselves to be the moral police.
