Are you changing your plans because DCL switched coasts?

I was just reading another post where the poster added that the price of RCCL was less than DCL in June 2005.

So I'd like to do an informal poll and ask if anyone changed their plans because of the switch to the West coast. Whether you are cruising because of it or aren't cruising because of it.

Made an error it should say "I'm not cruising at all "NEXT" year.

Sort of.
My original plan was to cruise in the summer of 2005 for our 10th anniversary. We wanted to do a Western Carribean on Disney of course. With the rumors of the CA cruise, we changed our plan a little and booked an Oct 05 DCL Western Carribean as we werent really interested in CA. We were happy with that until DCL cancelled our Oct cruise. So now we have booked a CA cruise as a back up, but we are still waiting to hear from DCL about the cancelled cruise.
So, yes we did change our plans, but Disney seems to have changed those plans on us, and we have no idea what we are doing now.

My plan was to rebook on board this August for a 7 night Western Cruise in summer of 2005. I don't want to cruise out of California so I guess I'll be trying the RCL next year.

Had plans to try a Mexican Riviera again, since the last time out was bad weather and missed ports. But the price was just not worth it. So we're going to spend that money on an Alaskan next year.

We had really wanted to do the 7 day Western next summer. We have NO desire to see the Mexican Riviera again, so we've booked a 4 day on the Wonder in July. I wish it was a 7 day, but I'm sure we'll have fun.

Well, you didn't really have an option to cover my situation but yes, I changed my plans. Instead of going on the 4/30/05 Eastern, I'll be on the 5/14/05 repositioning cruise AND the 12/12/04 Wonder. So that's 18 days of cruising in the next year in lieu of 7. Tough choice - not!

My answer wasn't a listed option, so here are my thoughts:
We wanted to cruise a 7-day sometime between May and August next summer, but only if it were a Caribbean cruise. Being that the Magic is out West during that time period, we didn't want to wait for 2 years before our next cruise so we chose to cruise sooner than planned -- Thanksgiving Western 2004. A little sooner than planned, but I think we could swing it. And I really don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by not going to Cali next summer. We win either way and I'm glad that the West coasters will get to share in the Magic for (hopefully) less flight expense. I'm happy for them!

We had already booked May 2005 Western but switched to July Mexico because we live about 25 minutes from San Pedro. It is costing us about $1200 more and we went from 2 Cat 8 adjoining to 2 cat 9's adj but we all couldn't fly to Fl for $1200. (2 adults, 4 kids). Not to mention the hassle of cross country travel with all of us!!!

I'm not voting because none of those options fit us. We would have cruised out West if they had done shorter stays with a DL vacation. Instead we'll do a DL vacation on our own to celebrate the 50th and then we're planning a 7 day Western for our October anniversary.

I wanted to do Disney Magic again
I wanted at least 7 days cruise.
I would have prefered Carribean.
But booked the 10 day trip back and changed my 'land' plans, and will change my flight plans.
Disney directed me to do this, this way

Won't be cruising in 2005 since they will be on the West Coast. I was hoping for a 7 day cruise to celebrate my getting finished with my interpreting program and getting my state qualification but guess that will have to be put off. Maybe a 4 day.

We had wanted to take our kids on another Disney Cruise but weren't sure when we'd actually go. As soon as I found out that the Magic was coming to the west coast I made reservations because we live near Long Beach, CA and we wouldn't have to fly to Florida to enjoy the Magic. I don't have to worry about booking flights to MCO, ground transportation, hotel (if we had gone to Florida we'd HAVE to stay a few nights at WDW), WDW passes, etc. The only thing I feel we're missing out on is a visit to Castaway Cay.

Ever since the rumors started we had planned to go to CA and cruise from there when the magic headed west..little did I know, we would also be on the repo cruise, before the mexican cruise..yippee!

We sailed on the Magic in June of 2001 and 2003. As we left last summer we told ourselves we would be back 2005. We are very content with the eastern and western sailings and love castaway cay. We also don't want the additional expense of flying to california( we drive to port canaveral). SOOO we decided to sail THIS summer instead of waiting and hoping the magic would move back for summer of 2006. I would love it if dcl added a new ship out of california--it is a nice chioce to offer--- but I was disappointed that all of next summer 's sailings are out of california. ( dh is a teacher so summer is really the only time for this type of vacation) The good side is that we are sailing in 40 days!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to hear wonderful trip reports form next summer---you all will have a blast I'm sure!

We really wanted to do DCL 7 day Western Car in June 2005. Now we are doing RCCL Explorer. Wish it was Disney.

I had promised my nieces a Disney cruise in July 2005. As far as I/they are concerned, the ship could have been cruising in the moat around the castle; we were going to be there!

What did change was the opportunity to cruise the Panama Canal. As a teacher, most Panama Canal cruises are out of the question. But thanks to Disney, not this time!

I was going to take my husband on an Alaskian Cruise July
of 2005, I have been waiting for Disney to put a ship out
on the west coast bound for Alaska. But after 5 DCL trips
when we heard the news, we went Disney again and will
keep fingers crossed that maybe they will put a ship out
on the west coast permanently. We will still fly out to do
the 7 nights 1-2 times a year because of WDW but it would
be nice to have the choice.
It sails back home to florida on my birthday, so it was not
a hard choice, can't wait.

I have no interest in CA. We will do the Wonder or for longer cruises go with the Voyager Class with RCCL
