Are you changing your plans because DCL switched coasts?

Has repositioning the MAGIC to the West coast changed your travel plans?

  • YES Thank You DCL for coming west, Now I can cruise!

  • No change here, I'm going to California to go a cruisin'

  • I am NOT cruising at all this year because of the MAGIC'S move to the west coast

  • I'm cruising, but I'm trying a different line. Thanks DCL I wanted to try something new.

I'm also glad for our West coast friends. I'm sure it is pricey to fly a family to Florida, probably more than the $140-200 per person we pay for NY to FL.

I have one question for those of you who want to do 7 nights and can't.......... Why not book back to back on the Wonder? Granted it's a repeat of Nassau, but is it also Key West and 2, that's right, 2 visits to Castaway Cay. You can plan it with DCL allowing you to stay in the same room, you may not even have to get off the ship during the turnaround.

Say again?? I didn't realize the Wonder visited Key West. Are you sure about this?

I hadnt heard the Wonder goes to Key West either.
The reason I decided against back to back Wonder cruises was because part of the reason for doing the 7 day was to experience the new ports, character breakfast, formal & semi formal night, and all the other things not offered on the shorter cruises. We have done the Wonder twice and were waiting for our 10th anniversary to do something bigger and different. Still crossing our fingers.;)

IMHO, the Magic is a better value day-by-day for the reasons you've listed: more and better activities, interesting ports, and generally cheaper per day per person.

I'll add high tea at Palo to the list.

I must have confused myself!!! Carnival adds KW to their 4 day Bahamas Intinerary. You are all correct DCL visits KW only with the Magic, I am SOOOOOOOOOO Sorry!!!!!

But still, if you are really jonesing for a DCL 7 night, it is something to consider. I can well imagine that it would end up a tad more costly than 7 nights on the Magic.

Any cruise is almost better than no cruise!

DMS_cruisers04 - I agree with you. I can not justify the cost (can afford it but will not go because of the high costs). Instead we are doing NCL next year and going on the Star in a mini-suite(comparable to a CAT 6 on DCL) to Alaska. I also needed to use my points on my NCL credit card before they expire (Made this next trip 1500 less). - Mike

I voted yes, because instead of doing a 10 day cruise on Princess in the Spring, we are doing the 14 day repositioning cruise from Ca to FL. in the summer.

So far 40% of the DISers are either not cruising or cruising elsewhere. BUT I'm glad to see that there are alot of people that are crusing from CA. that would NOT be cruising if DCL didn't switch

Yes - this was 1 way to talk DH into it. Because we are going with in-laws on the West Coast.:teeth:

My choice wasn't there...

we had played with the idea of taking our first trip to California for the 50th celebration. Once the DCL rumors started and then the official announcement came, it became a no brainer for us. Now we're doing a week out West followed the the 14 day repo cruise from Ca to Fl. We may even squeeze a day or 2 in at WDW to cap the trip off.

Are you a school teacher that you are able to take 3 weeks off?

Either way WTG.

I can't be away from home that long. It's 1 week intervals for me. After a week I am ready to get home. But I'm not as bad as my friends husband who after 4 days on the cruise is ready to go home. He booked a 10:30 flight (The flight after that would have been 2 PM) after our Magic cruise, because he wants to get home, hope he makes it.

But no worries

We had not planned on cruising next year as we were planning on going to the Cook Islands. But when I heard about the repo cruise I just had to book it ::yes::
