I am looking for my missing days of my reservation. I need October 12th in a studio and October 19th in a two bedroom, both at the BCV. I am hoping that someone will not be needing these and will do a transfer with me, as to by pass the wait list which I am on.
If I do not get these dates, I will be changing my hotel room,4 times.
OH BOY! I hope it comes through!!!!

Unless someone has only those days for a reservation, they couldn't transfer the reservation to you unless you paid for all the days of their reservation. Once they cancel the reservation, they cancel all of it.

If I am correct, I believe they could first call member services and say, we need to change our dates. And change the reservation to only have the one night on it. Then we can do the transfer.
I do not see any problem in that, I think it will work just fine.

at least you are going on that vacation! just how would you feel sitting on the waiting list and finding out that you didn't get to go on your vacation [much less had to change rooms again and again] because someone pulled the same stunt you are trying to do? wow! how sad are you that you would even try to do someone else on the waitlist out of what they are hoping and praying for!

To be honest, I am shocked I am getting this response!
There are all kinds of people that make ressies, just with the intent of renting them out to someone else. There are plenty of vacations booked right now by people that have no intent on using them, just making money off of them. All I am hoping for is to use this board to fill the gaps in my current reservations, I am just looking for someone that doesnt have a need for their ressies to perhaps pass them on to me. Everyone here knows there are problems with the waitlist, and I would hate to lose my spot because it isnt working the way it should be, I figured I would do what I could to get what we needed. Look around, people are doing all kinds of things. This is not that bad, I am just using my resources.

Are you currently on the wait-list for those days? Is so, you still have quite a bit of time left for the rooms to come through.

In the meantime, I see nothing wrong with trying to find someone to switch out with if they are willing. Anyone on the waitlist can do the same thing if they so choose. I personally don't feel that you're doing anything wrong by asking.

We have switching problems also - check into OKW on the 28th, check into GF on the 29th, check into BCV on the 3rd, into okw on the 6th, back into BCV on the 7th. I really hope the waitlist comes thru for the BCV on the 6th. I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it.

Thank you to those of you who understand what I am doing and agree. I didnt feel like I was being unethical. Yes I am definately on the wait list.
I am on the wait list for a studio and/or a one bedroom for the first date and a two bedroom the second date. I am also on a wait list for the whole trip at 2 other resorts. I just hope something comes through.

We were in your same position last year at this time. The days trickled in over the early months of the summer, but they did eventually come in.

When they cancel the reservation, the waitlist is supposed to kick in, so they can't move the reservation to your name, bypassing the waitlist.

Now, I happen to believe that the waitlist is batch processed, and if you find someone who will tell you when they cancel, you can slip in between when the room is available and when the waitlist is run against inventory. But that is a suspicion on my part.

As to the ethical state of such a move - its cutting in line.

Far be it for me to chime in like the DIS Morality Police , but I do think you are being somewhat unethical. You are trying to "work the system" so that your family jumps over the other families on the waitlist in front of you. Now, I have been known to "work the system" for my family as well so, as long as both you and the other DVC member are both OK with your scheme, who am I do say that it's not OK? However, I think that you should own up to cheating other DVC families out of their position in the waitlist instead of defending your attempts.

Regardless of the ethics of this, who would go to this much trouble for a complete stranger? I'm having to call MS, cancel all but one day of my reservation, then transfer it to another member, then deal with payment issues, as well as trusting a total stranger who hasn't provided any references or previous positive transactions. If this kind of transaction is frowned on by MS, I'm the one who has the black mark against my name.

OP, I love all DVCer's in theory, but there's just no way I would ever go to this much trouble for anyone else!!

I didnt mean for this to be a hot topic, I am simply looking for people who may be in a position to help me. To those of you who have already sent me messages about how you can help, thank you, and i am anxious to see if it will work out for us. Because so far these have been, only if they can not rent out the reservation they already booked, any more help would be appreciated.
