Are you anti-war?

So we should have lots of wars to justify a strong military?
Or maybe a strong military to curb potential wars?

Too many Miller Lites consumed to debate wisely, but I can say that I have always felt strongly that we need to defend Democracy at any cost and that invloves having a strong military.

pay comparable to or better than the civilian world.

I wouldn't say that I'm pro-war, but I AM pro-kicking-a-little-as*-when-it-needs-to-be-kicked.

I'd say this about sums it up for me. This is a difficult topic in our home because DH is in the military (currently stateside - thank goodness).

So if nothing else, I support the Troops because they are doing their jobs whether they agree with the war or not.

A few more soldiers from my DH's unit left today, so my prayers are with them and the others serving. May you all come home safely.

While I would like very much for the world to be at peace now and forever, there are aggressors who make that impossible.

We may not always fully understand the reasons for going to war and I'm not entirely convinced we are always 100% justified, but there are reasons, many of which are difficult to understand. And, there is no shortage of those who would prefer we don't understand and they prey on our emotions.

I went to Vietnam. Did we belong there? I'm still not sure. But I went and was proud to serve my country. My grandson is a United States Marine and will likely be deployed to Iraq in February. Is that war justified? I think so, very much, but I'm not convinced we're solving all the problems. My grandson says is just his job...

I am convinced, however, that there are thousands, if not millions, of radical muslims out there who feel compelled to kill all of us and our families. They are not about to quit or surrender. They may crawl back under their rocks for a while, but they will never give up on their quest to kill us. Our only hope is to kill them first. Kinda sucks to be us, doesn't it?

I am not a pacifist. I do however feel that war should be a last resort. I also believe that a country has the right to defend itself against an aggressor.

I'm pro war. As said before, there are times when a little *A* needs to be kicked once in a while. I also believe that having a strong military has kept us safe for so many years, safe from other countries...terrorism is a whole new ball game.

Not really, but I am not a war hawk. I believe some wars are justifiable. I also believe that once you decide to go to war, you must go "all in" to win. No halfway wars. Do the job quickly, as efficeintly as you can, and don't come home with a "tie".

The only war I would support would be in the case of an invading force coming onto our shores. This is in no way meant to criticize out troops. They are very brave and I admire them. We do need a strong military in order to protect the country.

I believe that a nation has the right to defend its citizens from enemies who threaten to do them harm. Our constitution requires that of the Federal Government. I don't like it, because I don't like killing, but I believe that there are situations where war is the only option.

For the most part I agree with you. I have one small change I'd make. There are always innocent lives lost in war.

Also consider those who suffer long after the fighting has ceased.

Totally anti war even before being chased during an Vietnam protest back in 1970!! It tears my heart out to see people die while governments fight. Maybe if THEY were put out there to fight or their kids? Maybe things would change? So much easier to make decisions and killing off someone else's child.

Yesterday I heard on the news that 98 US military were killed this month alone, I'm sure that number will be more tomorrow. I just can't find sense in it. I just can't.
