Are you an organ donor?

Just read the replies about BF working in the ER, and one PP who worked in a trauma center...am I just dumb ? Why would they take someone's organs that belonged to them unless they knew they were going to die ? You can't pay someone for an organ...unless it is on the black market...so what is the point of hastening someone's death because they're a donor ? Whoever is getting the organ may reject it anyway ! You just don't know...my donor stuff is on my DL, and DH KNOWS how strongly I feel about this issue...so if I'm Ms. Veg, let them take whatever they want.

I'd have no problem with someone taking my organs if I die. I DO NOT want it stated on my driver's license. DBF has shadowed in an ER and Trauma Center and has seen doctors not exhaust every possible avenue to save someone's life because they were an organ donor.

I guess maybe they think that if they don't save this life, they'll save another so why try so hard? I'm not saying that every doctor does this (obviously) but there are those that do... and that scares me. I may be selfish in that respect, but everyone has to make their own decision about whether or not to be an organ donor.

I am and everyone in my extended family is also.

8 years ago at Thanksgiving, my Dad was lucky enough to receive a donor heart, he had been on a machine for a little over 6 months in the hospital that pumped his heart for him.

Without that generous family who donated their loved ones organ, my Dad would never of seen my children, or had the countless memories from the last 8 years.

Please, please be an organ donor, you truly cannot imagine how it can change and affect other peoples lives!

Yes and so is dh. I guess I need to find out more about what keeps you off the donation list since we will be moving to other countries.
I hope that does not make my family ineligible.
