Are you an ice hockey fan? And if not, will you watch one NHL match on tv this upcoming season?

A visit to Pittsburgh and Columbus planned for mid October.

I have an 8 game plan with the Washington Capitals.

I still need to visit the relatively new arenas in Edmonton, Detroit, and the NY Islanders. I’ve been everywhere else.

I'll watch the Sharks whenever they play, but I have a fantasy team on ESPN so I have to have some vested interest now.

I used to be a big Kings fan. I literally never missed a game (on TV), then I had kids and didn't have time for it. DD likes the Ducks so we get to a couple of games a year. I'm about to make all other hockey fans jealous; I went to Ducks games their inaugural year and paid about $20-$30 for nose bleed seats. That's what I paid for DD and I to go to games last season - the price has not gone up at all.

The Ducks are terrible, but still...

I wish Disney still owned them.

I admit it. Both DH and I are diehard Leaf fans.

The running joke was that I married him for his season tickets, which at the time had a literal decades (or more) long waiting list. We’ve since moved way outside of Toronto and no longer have them, but I got DVC and WDW annual passes to compensate.

What's it like living in the Caribbean? I assume it's very different then Canada. I know it's an off topic question but I'm curious.

Some, one of the local stations streams CBC a lot. Kept Sportsnet and use a VPN. DH has a ton of hacks. He did up a former guest room as a Leaf man cave. He feels very strongly about the Leafs.
You could watch soccer though on the islands. The Cayman islands play next month in the Concacaf Nations League against the British Virgin Islands and St. Kitts. Canada plays an international friendly against Panama in Toronto. You can watch most Canada matches on Onesoccer.

Just if you're curious about some Canada and Cayman Islands sports news in between the hockey coverage.

No hockey fans in our current household, although growing up, my cousins played and were huge Bruins fans (they lived near Boston).

My oldest never cared about hockey at all...until she went to Boston University! We have pictures of her at the BU rink, holding a Dunks cup and yelling "BC SUCKS!" (BU students do this at every hockey game, NOT just ones played against Boston College). And The Beanpot--hockey games among BU, BC, Northeastern, and Harvard--is a religion there. I don't know if she still watches, now that she graduated, but she had a lot of fun while she was a student.

When MUCH younger used to go to NHL games all the time. Friends Dad operated the big score thing hanging from ceiling. He got us tickets so we entered from underneath. Always enjoyed especially when we played the Blackhawks. They were so rough you were guaranteed fights and blood on the ice. It is my understanding hockey is much more mild now.

Haven't been to NHL in probably 20 years or so. Our team left for a second time. We have minor not far from us that DS goes to every so often. Currently lots of rumblings we could get another NHL team, a solid sports group is fighting for one and they'd play within minutes of our house. If it works, we'll be going again.

Not really fans of anything else, but thanks.

Canada is a host of the 2026 World Cup if you are interested in visiting your home country during that time. Miami will be a host as well. Just in case you are interested in the future. I hope the hurricanes aren't affecting you to much this week.

We're hockey fans, though admittedly don't watch a lot on TV. DD checks scores nightly during the season, mainly checking on the Bruins, Habs and Flyers. We go to a few college hockey games, lots of high school games. And DD plays on a "special hockey" team.

Have you seen any preseason games?
