Are you allowed to carry on food items on American Airlines?

My parents will be flying in Sept, and planned on taking kringles (for those not familiar, they're big danish pastries in a ringed shape, probably around 1.5 ft long). I told them they should check with the airlines, cuz I'm not sure if they'll be allowed to transport them. Are there any new (or old) rules on this? I haven't flown in awhile to be familiar with this. Thanks!

I flew AA out of Pearson (Toronto) last month. I had stuff in my carry on bag (sandwich, chips, candy and a pop) they never asked me if I had food at all, and no one said anything. Now mine was a bit smaller than a foot and a half, but I am sure it is ok.

Yes, they will absolutely allow you to bring food on. I work for American, and I bring food on all the time, especially now that they no longer serve food on most flights.

Yes, you can take them as carry on. We bring back an assortment of bakery & deli goodies back from NY all the time. The only thing you need to take into consideration is that if it's in a box TSA may want you to open it, so you should take supplies to securely close it up again.

We just flew American last month. We read (before we left) that since they no longer served meals, passengers were welcome to bring whatever they wished to eat aboard. We had to leave at 5am to get to the airport and arrived after lunchitme, so we ate both breakfast and lunch on board. We brought a cooler as one of our carry-ons. No problem :)

We were on a flight once with this guy that got on with 3 pizzas-still hot and in the boxes. Needless to say there were people on board that were dying for him to open those boxes and share! :flower:
