I am, unreasonably so. We had some once in a real old house we lived in, and I was terrified for weeks. Last night, I had brought up Kimmi's laundry for her from the basement (she fell off her rollerblades last week, and, under dr's orders, can't lift anything over 10 pounds). I put it by the entrance to my bathroom which is in my bedroom. I was laying in bed, reading a book, and I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I looked again, and saw a little black mouse run out from behind the basket and back again. I jumped and smacked Stephen (who was sound asleep). He had only gotten three hours sleep the night before because he played a late b-ball game, and couldn't relax until 2:00 a.m., so he was very tired. He is also scheduled to go to work tonight at 9 and work all night and all the next day, so he really needed his sleep, but I smacked him without thinking. Needless to say, he was not happy with me. He said there was nothing he could do tonight, but he'd get a trap tomorrow. Don't flame me, they deserve to die. So, he was mad, I was scared, and the mouse was hiding behind the basket. I cried (very quietly) and read and watched the basket and cried and read and watched (well, you get the idea). I think I got about an hours sleep, if that much. Anyone else terrified of these innocent, germ laden, rodents?

Nope. Not in the least.

I actually think they're kinda cute (well, the little brown fuzzy field mice at least!)

Now, spiders on the other hand...

Naw, not me, I'm not afraid at all. I used to have pet mice when I was younger. I've seen a couple here & there in places I've lived....I just pick em up by the tails and deposit them outside ;)

And yet you like WDW? Home of the biggest mouse of the all!!!

I was laughing so hard when I read this because that could have been me laying there alternately crying and peeking to see if he was still behind the basket.:( I do not know what it isthat caused this irrational fear of mice but, I do remember my mother standing on a chair screaming at the top of her lungs when I was a very small child...I think that has something to do with it...;)

I don't like them running around the house, but we get them all the time in the garage and I have a humane trap that doesn't kill them..you put bait (food) inside...they run in...a little door closes...I find them and release in the ravine near my house. All they want is a bit of food and warmth. Not much to ask in life??:(

Disney845: Yeah, kind of ironic, but Mickey doesn't dash around unexpectedly, and have sharp teeth and carry disease now, does he? ;)

Disneymomma: I am so glad I am not the only one with this fear, however, irrational.

pandypaws: I wish I could be that brave. Just pick them up by their tail? Um, no, I don't think so.

Mickey's the only mouse that doesn't bother me. I hate other mice.

When I was pregnant with Sara, I went into the kitchen in the middle of the night for a drink of water (I had an abnormal craving for water when I was pregnant with her). I didn't turn on the lights because I didn't want to wake Allen up. After I got my drink, I walked through the living room and felt something furry under my feet. I think my scream broke the sound barrier.;) Allen came running in there and found a squished mouse. Not to mention a hysterical mama to be.:p

I do NOT dispose of them either. Touching them will give me nightmares.:o

I'm not afraid of mice at all, I think they're cute.

Reminds me....while at Universal last week...I was sitting on a wall outside of the Woody's coaster (near the Curious George water place) and sharing my pretzel with two little baby mice that were in the bushes behind where I sat ;) :teeth:

For some reason, if I imagine seeing little mice, outside, in their correct habitat, it doesn't scare me (as much). But seeing them in my house is terrifying. Why is that?

I'm sorry tc, that must have been awful for you.

I'm not afraid of mice. I won't touch them if I have a choice, but I'm not afraid of them. I just figure that I'm much bigger than they are.

It's funny, but that doesn't work for misquitos. I hate them. I make it my mission to kill each and everyone that comes near me. They like me, see, they will bite my dh once, but me, oh no, they'll bite me a dozen times.

LOL, we all have our fears, rational or not. I hope you get that mouse so you can sleep tonight.

I HATE mice....just hate them...I don't know what it is about them but I hate them!!!! I had one in the house a few years ago and it loved to come out when I was making cookies. And the dumb cat was NOT any help!!!!

Very scared!
I think I'd have a heart attack if one was in my house!

<font color=navy>Not afraid of mice. We once had rats - fed their babies to the sn... um.... well, that's another subject....

We have had pet mice before, and they are so cute - no problem at all.

Now, arachnids on the other hand - I've had them fall on my head before, and I must've jumped 3 feet in the air -- they make me shudder & I'm scared to death of them.... (My dd, on the other hand loves all animals... she once had a jar w/her when I picked her up from school, and when I peeked inside it was full of little spiders  so I made her leave them at the school... now that I look back on it, sounds like something Lilo would've done.)

No, I think mice are cute! My cousin used to have one for a pet, and I always wanted to play with it whenever we came over for a visit. I've had my share of rodent pets as well- gerbils and hamsters.

DW Sue has a deathly fear of rodents. She once told me that, if we ever find a mouse in our house, we will have to move. And she wasn't kidding. She cannot stand to see pictures of mice in magazines. The movie Stuart Little was out of the question. Whenever she sees a TV commercial that has mice or hears a news story about some medical breakthrough (where they always show lab rats), she freaks.

She had a very bad experience at Girl Scout camp with mice in her sleeping bag and has never gotten over it. We joke around about a lot of things at our house, but everyone knows that the subject of mice is OFF LIMITS!!! PERIOD!!!

And since our house sits on a wooded lot, we have lots of chipmunks and squirrels running around outside. Sue considers them mice with fur coats and can barely stand to have them around. Thank goodness that Mickey doesn't resemble a real mouse.

TC: my fear is almost as bad, and has no grounds. When we were first married we lived in a mobile home, and had a mouse. Stephen got rid of it, and put steal wool around stove pipe where he figured they came in at. I was so upset, I kept asking if we could sell the trailer or trade it in on a new one. I begged and begged, till I got my way. What a mistake! The new trailer was financed at 18%, it took us 15 years to pay it off (we were young and stupid), and it was made poorly. The old trailer was built much better. We ended up having to move it to Colorado, and sell it to someone who wanted to assume the loan. It was really a financial hardship, all because I was afraid of a mouse. I promised I would never insist on selling again because of a mouse.

I'm with you 100%--I HATE mice, but especially in my house! We had some mice problems once and DH had set a trap. My kids were babies at the time. Well, I came home from shopping with the kids and opened the kitchen door and here was this mouse in broad daylight staggering around my kitchen! I screamed so loud I had both kids crying. I refused to go in the house until DH came home to take care of the mouse. It's funny though, we have gerbils and I'm OK with them (as long as they stay in their cage).

Browneyes: OMG! That is my worst fear to actually step on one. I would have been inconsolable!!!!

No, I'm not, but I can certainly understand your fears.
My view on the field mice around our house is:
"Outside, you're really cute, inside, you're really dead!"
