Are you afraid of mice?

I am irrationally terrified of mice!!! I can't even watch them in movies w/o cringing. There is one in our garage my 6 year old spotted the other day and I'm trying to decide between killing it or moving!

Roaches of any kind!!!!
We lived in Florida for a while...now that's a treat!! I had them coming in the vents of my car!!!
We had a couple of huge ones in our room at Port Orleans/FQ once!! Had the pest control come and 'rid' them but I moved rooms anyway! At 2 a.m!!!!!

Yech!!!

I'm absolutely completely and totally terrified of mice. I know it's stupid, but I just can't stop. I couldn't even read the scary mice stories on this post.

We get mice in our garage every winter. Last winter we only had one or two. The winter before that we set traps and caught at least 3 a week for over two months straight. YUCK! They never set foot inside the house, but I wouldn't go into the garage. If I opened the door and saw something run, DH would have to pull my car into the driveway in the morning. Once I opened the door and a gray foot came inside. I've never slammed a door that fast in my life. I don't know what happened to that mouse. I always tell DH that if the mice come inside, we have to move, but so far we've been lucky. The exterminator says there's nothing we can do but trap them since there's a creek behind our house. They go there in the winter to drink and use our garage to warm up.

The funny thing is that mice in the pet store don't really bother me. I don't think I'd want one at home as a pet, but it wouldn't give me nightmares as long as it was white and fat. It's the element of surprise that gets me.

But seeing them in my house is terrifying. Why is that?

I don't know but I'm right there with you. I had my first mouse encounter in the basement/laundry room about two months ago. (Why are they inside in the summer?) I still run in and out when I do the wash and won't go down at night. I'm 99% sure they are gone but can't bring myself to linger too long in the same room. Mice, YUCK!!! I wish I could be brave like PandyPaws.

Also hate those spiders but I'm able to squish and dispose of those.

I am so relieved I am not the only one irrationally afraid of something I can easily step on. Ick, that would freak me out though.

Shannon, I don't know how you didn't go into labor after stepping on one in the dark. It makes me think twice about getting up in the middle of the night.

I did have to use the bathroom at about 5 a.m. this morning. Instead of going in my bathroom, past the basket, I went to the other bathroom, on the other side of the house. Pitiful, I know.

We used to find mice in the kitchen all the time when I went to culinary school. You would come in and look in the sink and see them scrambling around to try an get out but couldnt. The worst is when a mouse is afraid they seek higher ground i.e that is they may run up your pant leg (not fun)

Anywho here at the meadowlands we dont have many mice but we do have rats. Remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles???
I swear these rats discovered the secret of the OOZE hear in the swamps

antnee: if you were trying to help put my fears at ease by being funny, it didn't work ;) ! I have thought they may run up my leg, but I thought that was my overactive imagination, I didn't think they could really do that! Can they do it if you have shorts on? Run up your skin! Okay, so, since we haven't caught our little friend, I am even more scared. Thanks, antnee ;) :) !

Snakes bother me much more than mice. I had a field mouse decide to hibernate in a rubber tree one time, it was a black mouse too. He loved peanut butter. Too bad for him ;)

tc they are more afraid of you then you are of them. You look like a giant to them.

And yup they will do that even with shorts on if they are scared enough. Just set a trap. The smell of cooked bacon draws them out. :)

LOL Kelli,

I didn't think I was afraid of them but I was cutting the grass on the riding mower the other day by the cotton field that our house backs up to and a HUGE field mouse came running out of the field. As if it was going to jump up on the mower...LOL....It
scared me to death. So yes I'm most probably afraid of them....Now if a snake had come out I would have FREAKED!

The smell of bacon?
