But does anyone ever get tired of always being polite? You are always the one saying excuse me, always the one being considerate, always the one moving out of the way for people, always going out of your help people....
just once in a while I get tired of it, I'm sure I can't be the only one!

No, you are not the only one! I'm polite. And since shopping is a relaxing time for me (no kids!), I'll smile at people a lot. I don't know if it's just our stores minniebeth, but I'm sick of smiling at folks just to have them scowl and look at you like you're crazy.

When did people stop being cordial to each other?

No, I'm not a polite shopper. Damned you all be, if you're in the store with me. Oooo...that rhymed.

Actually, I try to be polite and sometimes I get bit by the dumb bug and do something that irritates others. When brought to my attention, I'm quick to apologize.

Some of these responses are a crackup! I have GOT to test out meeting tall beefcake by asking them to get my tampons from the top shelf.

I try to be a polite shopper. I keep my cart off to the side out of the way, and if I notice someone looking at the shelves where my cart is before I get back to it, I tell them to go ahead and shove me out of their way---assuming they'll realize that I mean the cart and not my person.

There's nothing wrong with opening boxes of crackers or giving your child another NON-weighable item to eat in the store, as long as you pay for it before you go. For some parents of small children on some days, it is the best way to get through the store without disturbing everyone else with a cranky, whiny, crying, or running-amok child. Weighable items are a different matter. That drives checkers nuts. My best friend is a checker, and people are constantly walking up, handing her an apple core, and expecting her to know how much the apple weighed before the kid ate it.

When my kids were really little I did my best not to take them to the store at all. I would go late at night and leave my husband home with them. I was SO thankful for 24 hour grocery stores!
