Are you a planner?

This may be a silly question on these boards but its not just about travel.

In life in general are you a planner?



This is a major bone of contention with my family ( brothers specifically) this is what I *do* Im a planner by nature and for a living. I LIKE to plan. I like knowing what Im doing day to day.


I made plans with one DB for labour day. He thought I meant memorial day. He said " how in the heck am I supposed to know what Im doing, I was doing good to say yes to Memorial day!"

So are you a planner in life?

Not really. I am more of a play it my ear or last minute decider.

DH is the planner. He plans everything. We usually know what our vacation are more than a year in advance. He gets antsy if I don't know what we are doing for a specific holiday that we usually spend with my family.

I haven't even thought about next weekend much less Memorial Day weekend. And that's a 4 day weekend for us.

Yes, I would say I am a planner. I do not go to extremes,but I seem to function better with a plan in in motion. I like to know what I am going to do in advance. Even with weekends, it drives me crazy if we have no plan. I mean, sure a lot of weekends are taken up with birthday parties, or some sort of kid event. If we have nothing planned, I have to plan something. I mean like, Ok, on Saturday we will go to yard sales, go have lunch, put
baby down for a nap, etc...you get my point.
We are going on vacation in August. I have 98% of it all planned out already, from plane reservations, to rental car reservations, etc.. We are going on a cruise. I look at the ships map to see where everything is located, where our room is from various things etc...Im just anal about certain things.

Yes. While it's fun not to plan some things, and live life on the edge, it's foolish IMO to not plan for the future.

I agree that it can be fun to not planstuff too.

Its funny because it used to be just the opposite in this house. DH used to be the planner and I used to just wing it.

I guess as Ive gotten older Ive moved into that role a bit more.


I just like how it feels to know that I have this and this to look forward to, I also like knowing how much money Im going to have to start socking away so we can do these things LOL

I like plans and knowing what is going on. Life for me is better that way.
And DH appreciates it because he is always packed in time for a business trip

I'm definitley a planner, and my mom is the anti-planner. It made for some contentious moments while growing up.

Luckily, DH doesn't seem to mind my planning streak at all. He's happy to let me go, and I always circle back every once in a while to fill him in and ask for his opinions. I honestly think it takes a lot of work off of him, and he likes it that way!

I am a crazy planner. My fiance calls me his living PDA. He just has to come to me to check on our schedule. I think we have ourselves planned up till 2007 at this point.

I'm a planner to the freakth degree!!! I love to plan trips, research purchases/products, read anything and everything on the subject du jour. Even watch all kinds of information tv shows. In fact, DH makes fun of me because he can tell what I'm into by what I have saved on the DVR.

I have to plan everything. I have lists, etc. of what to do, pack, etc. Everyone knows this and when they want to do something, they will call me for info so they don't have to!! I try to find out as much info ahead of time as possible. This is how I found the disboards!!!

Ok another example of my problem... errr umm.. my planning skills.

We move in 10 days, not only do I have most of the house packed ( at least I think I do) I have the new house planned out. I know where everything is going, what colours Im going to paint in what rooms, what furniture I need to buy and I have planned the garden. I even went to the nursery yesterday to make a price list.

I think I was a girl scout in my former life.


oh yeah, I also have a binder addiction. Anyone else want to cop to that?

I am most definitely a planner. I am just one of those people who is an organizer and an administrator. I like to know "The Plan" - even if it is just "What are we going to do Saturday?". A lot of times our first Plan for Saturday is to sleep late .

More than being a planner, though, I am an anticipator. I like to know what is coming.

I can be spontaneous when it's just me or me and one other person, but I don't typically like spontaneity with a group. I don't really even like it when any of our friends call us late in the day and say, "Hey, do you want to come over for dinner tonight?". I just need that advance mental preparation for some reason.

Yes, I'm a planner. I sometimes wonder if I need to join Planners Anonymous or something. I have so many things going on that organization and careful planning is a must. I even have to plan my shopping trips.....what day, get my list together, etc. That's more a result of not having a driver's license and working around Chris's very busy schedule.

Oh yes, I'm a planner. I even married a planner. Yesterday, after I bought the tickets for MVMCP and make ADRs for LTT my DH looked at me and said "We need to start the notebook." My reply "I already have." We were made for each other.
And I couldn't survive in life without my new franklin covey. I just love that book!
