I know someone who, if she doesn't like the smell of the deodorizer in a public restroom, just unplugs it. She thinks she's "sending a message" instead of just telling the manager.
My MIL will cut up a credit card to a store if she doesn't like how young people are portrayed in their ads. Whoo-hoo! Yeah, the store's really going to notice that one lady in Iowa doesn't shop there anymore.
So I'm in the aggressive category. If something bugs me enough that I feel I need to do something, I write a letter or make a phone call.
What about you?

Passive. I don't really like confrontation and don't think most things are worth it. Also, I work in a service job and it gets a little old when people complain about every little thing -- a lot of the time it's just them being cheap and getting huffy with us.

I don't actually do anything about anything, I just come to the DIS to whine about stuff. :rolleyes1 :teeth: :teeth:

However, that is more true of me as well. Or at least I just tell my friends. Honestly I figure that if something is bad, if I tell my friends that will have more of an impact than writing a letter or calling or doing something passive. Granted if it is something minor (like temp at the office is too low/high) we'll tell someone to see if maint can fix it, I'd do something about it. Otherwise I found that writing or calling about something negative does nothing. Neither does being passive.

If I have had bad service in a store, and I tell my friends, they wind up telling their friends nad in all honesty that would have more of an impact than anything else. And the same goes for good things. I brag up the stores and places I like, and that hopefully will have more of an impact for them positively. Though if I get exceptional service, I will write a letter and those seem to get more reactions than anything negative. I guess positive reinforcement really works better :)

When I was working as a director of a child care center I read an article that said "For every complaint you hear, 7 more people are thinking it." I've always remembered that.

If it really bothers me, then I'm aggressive. Otherwise, I just let it slide for the little annoyances in life.

I used to be VERY aggressive... A-type personality... and still am about SOME things...

But I would say that I am PASSIVE/AGGRESSIVE more than anything now. I let people gripe, talk and b&m but I STILL do what I choose to do no matter what.

I used to think I could change the world, now I believe in the "each one Teach one" process. I have put all of my efforts into bringing up an AWESOME man of God.

The rest of the world is no longer my problem... :p

I heard this on a different scale. In the case of a large corporation, for every letter they receive, 1,000 more people are thinking it.

I voted aggressive, but the word has such a negative connotation. I think I'm more assertive than aggressive. I will politely make my complaints known to management (if they are more than just mildly annoying and/or if it happens consistently). I don't trust them to read my mind. If someone unplugged the deoderizer, they might think it was a kid playing around, and have no idea the reason was that someone didn't like the smell.

ETA: Thanks OP, for reminding me that I need to let the rec center know the air temp is too low at the indoor pool. This is the only indoor pool I know that allows air-conditioned air to blast in through an open doorway (no doors, but they could easily be added). Even some of the lifeguards wear sweats. :confused3

It depends. In my personal life I am rather passive. I do not like confrontation and tend to just 'go with the flow'. In my business/political life I am a whole different person. I am very aggressive, and will sit and debate views and politics till I am blue in the face.
