Hey,
Thanks to all who have posted on this. I know that the term is one that has so many bad connotations, but I can't think of a a more appropriate one. "Chauvanist" is good, but the majority of people only think that word has one meaning, so I decided to go with 'snob'. I think it also conveys a sense that I'm proud of what Walt Disney & Co. have created from the various parks, to the media empire and to the enormous amount of goodwill that the company carries in its name alone. I greatly respect any person or organization who can do that and as such I want others to recognize their efforts. I want to see them succeed, too, and when people litter or act rudely and uncivilized, I feel like it's an afront to the sensibilities of the millions of people who share my passion for Disney.
All of us play nice, it's just those few who seem to stick out and threaten to disturb our enjoyment of the magic. Squealing wet kiddies running through the GF's sumptuous lobby, thoughtless littering and pushy folks in line remind me of all the rudeness in the world that I want to escape by going to Disney. These people aren't bad people, but I sometimes feel that because I frown on such actions, I must somehow be the bad guy- because I cherish the institution so much, I must be missing the obvious point that "hey, it's just a kids' amusement-park."
Well, I refuse to give into that mentaility, and thusly I will always do my best to preserve and share in the magic as long as my body can get us down to where it all lives.
Best regards,
Andrew
