Are you a designated driver?

I have been maybe 3 times in my life. Usually, I'm on the receiving end:drive: Yes, I know..99.7% of you have never had a drink, I'm talking to the other

Yeah, let's just say I have a reputation for imbibing. I give taxis and Uber a lot of business. In college I had a medical condition that forced me not to drink any alcohol for 6 months and hanging out with drunk kids while you're sober is excruciating.

Lucky me, my son drives a cab:rotfl:

Since I don't drink much I guess I am. If we go out my DH normally has a beer or two so I drive and skip the drinks. :goodvibes

I used to be but I had to surrender my license due to vision problems and I don't drink so now I'm just as happy to stay home :wave2:

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the thread title!

I am sometimes.

I never used to be. BUT now when we do go out it usually is me. :drive:
Dh usually starts drinking where ever we get to so I usually take that as a sign not to drink. He may have been dd for me only a couple times. AND I do drink just not very often anymore.

No drunk people annoy me! I avoid them at all costs.

The closest I've ever come is a friend calling me to drive his wife's car home for him, after he went to pick her up one night because she'd been out for a girls night and didn't need to drive her car back.

In general, though, I don't feel comfortable going to bars where I don't know how other people handle their alcohol, so it's pretty easy for me to avoid the duty. I guess I'd do it if I had to. Better me get irritated, than a friend hurt themselves or someone else because they were drunk behind the wheel. Luckily, me and my friends / family aren't big drinkers. Not that we don't drink. It's just usually at home, so no need for a designated driver. We arrange it where we can just spend the night if needed, no driving required.

I'm currently pregnant so by default I have become the permanent designated drive until October. Otherwise I've always been on the receiving end of the DDing.

Almost always - in fact, I'm lined up to be the driver for my wife & her friends tonight as they're going dancing (and drinking). Even when I would set out to be one of the "drunks", I would almost always end up cutting myself off as soon as I realized the driver that night was not taking it easy as promised. So yeah, more often than not.

I have been, several times. I've also had someone else do the driving. But, we have a wonderful bar with outdoor patio about a mile and half from here, and when we go there, we just walk, so it's not an issue for any of us :-)

I usually am. I have a medical condition where drinking would end up with me in lots of pain. Plus a medication that doesn't react well with alcohol.

So yea.. not really my choice, but sort of forced into the roll!

In college, I was the designated driver. It is not that I didn't drink, I did, but only in my apt or the apts. of people that I knew.
Now, my husband drives. We never have more than a couple of drinks when we go out to a party or to dinner.
