If so, (or if not) here's a little Beatles trivia for ya!

The Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" does not stand for "LSD." The title actually comes from John Lennon's son Julian, who left his mark on more than one Beatles song. His drawing of a nursery school classmate, Lucy O'Donnell caught his father's eye. When asked what it was called, Julian replied, "Lucy in the sky with diamonds."

When John Lennon divorced Julian's mother Cynthia, Paul McCartney composed a little song to cheer the boy up. Eventually Hey Jules evolved into Hey Jude.

Prior to being named "The Beatles" the band had several names. In the late 1950s, John Lennon and Paul McCartney formed a group to play skiffle music in Liverpool pubs. They began as the Quarrymen, then became: Johnny and the Moondogs, the Moonshiners, and Long John and the Silver Beatles. They became "The Beatles" in 1960. The band broke up in 1970.

The Beatles achieved 20 US and 17 UK No 1 singles, more than anyone else. They also hold the record for the most No 1 albums of all time, with 15 albums on Billboard. They sold more records than anyone - over a billion worldwide.

In May 1997, Paul McCartney broke his own world record by obtaining his 81st gold disc for the album "Flaming Pie."

John Lennon's final live performance was when he joined Elton John on stage at Madison Square Garden in 1974 to perform the song they co-wrote, "Whatever Gets You Through the Night."

Another excellent thread, Blondie.....:D

Thanks....:D

Thanks, Blondie! To say the Beatles made an impact on the face of music, not to mention culture, is an understatement.

I always loved the Beatles for their innovation, their need to challenge what came before them. They never stood still. And no one ever caught up to them.

They stand as an icon in rock n roll music.

I knew that Hey Jude was written for Julian Lennon, but had never read that Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not a song about LSD. I don't care what they say, they had to be tripping on acid to write the lyrics to that song!

I'm a huge Beatles fan, btw. :)

Big fan here too! Saw them TWICE! in Chicago. My big sister took me (I was a Freshman, she was a Senior). What a great sis, huh?

The good old days..............good music,

With respect to the Beatles, "fan" is an inadequate description for me:teeth:

My funny Beatles story, last week in my middle school one of the students had on a very cool Yellow Submarine t-shirt. I told him how much I loved it and he said - You like the Beatles? I said - You do know they are really old and half of them are deceased don't you? He said - really??

im in love with the beaatles!! i knew that info i read it at a john lennon art exibit but still cool that you put it up. my fav album is a hard days night the height of beatlemania and the mod culture.

Addedum to Blondie's last fact...

John Lennon made a bet with Elton John. He didn't think "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" would hit #1. Elton John did. Elton won and John had to "pay" up. Hence his surprise appearance at MSG.
