I still do my own taxes. Don't like anybody else poking around in my business. YOU'RE PROBABLY not missing anything unless you have alot of investments. It's all pretty self explanatory.
You know, we have done our own for over ten years and this year went to a CPA ($275 - yikes!) to get them done. We bought/sold a home this year and DD moved out and went to college, we just wanted to make sure they were done right and see if there are any new or missed deductions to take advantage of. After our session, I must say we would have been fine using Turbo Tax again, the accountant did not bring anything new to the table. But, it is worth piece of mind sometimes to be sure. Good luck
We've used Turbo Tax the last few years. I wouldn't touch our taxes with a 10-foot pole, but DH has degrees in economics and finance so he can handle it.
We did our own taxes until Dh went into business for himself. Now I have anough trouble just keeping track of everything and getting the information to the accountant, I don't want to worry about missing something or doing something wrong on our taxes.
DH does ours, but then he is a CPA tax specialist who's on the National Tax Board and meets with the IRS bigwigs twice a year... so I think he can handle it
We use Turbo tax, but Always do our own - even since they've gotten complicated. We NEVER file electronically either - and won't until the require it (making things easier on the IRS is not one of my goals in life).
I am a CPA, but not involved with taxes. I do our own with Turbo Tax. I refuse to do family members though. Since I am not involved with taxes on a day to day basis, I don't want to take on that risk. I have never had a problem with Turbo Tax though, it is very self explanatory. Unless you have a business or complicated investments, it should work fine for most people.
I did before I got married. My MIL checks tax returns for a living. She freelances for all the firms in her small town and usually ends up with the complicated ones. She prepares and files ours for us.
I've always done ours, been using Turbo Tax since 1996. Ours are pretty simple (just W-2's, interest, dividends), so I'd hate to pay someone to do them.
