Are we the only people who haven't switched to blue ray? We have no plans to either.....and I guess I don't get the appeal. :confused3

Not in a million years do I want to pay 10$ MORE for every movie I buy.

By the way we still own two VHS players too. LOL

Nope, no Blu Ray's here, either. And don't plan on it. ;)

I'm happy watching DVD's (or movies on demand in HD). :)

Us either. We've already got a supply of regular DVDs we haven't even opened.

No Blu-Ray for us either. I figure by the time we get one technology would have advanced so much it would be obsolete. LOL We also still have a VCR but rarely use it.

We didn't "switch" but our DVD player in one room died so we bought one. (don't ask, a hubby thing). Anyway, I don't see a difference. Of course I go along with him, yes dear, it's great. LOL

Most of the dvd's we have bought lately all are blue ray, dvd, digital combos and don't cost anymore than the regular dvd would.

You know, my DH drives a 20 year old mostly rust Jeep, and he wears jeans that he's had since high school.

But he HAS to have the newest, latest, fanciest home movie gagets there are. Go figure . . :confused3

So yes, we have Blu-Ray, along with our high definition flat screen TV, and have had it for about a year.

Don't plan to switch, either. But then again, I'm one of those people who would've been perfectly content to keep using a VHS player & buying/renting tapes, but got a DVD player because they pretty much stopped SELLING tapes

We don't even have an HD television! I'm not getting one until my current TV stops working.

We have a flat screen HDTV, too...but still watch DVD's on it. :lmao:

I have no desire to purchase a BluRay, I haven't even purchased a DVD in over a year. I rarely watch any movie more than once or twice so I will just stream it.

I have no desire to purchase any physical media any longer. All my music is now un-DRMed MP3 because I am tired of having to re-purchase the same thing over and over because the delivery format has changed.

Well, I'm rarely up on technology. It's sad that my 60 year old parents are more up to date than I am . They gave me an iTouch a couple of years ago and I do nothing but play music on it when I work out. They also bought me a very nice flat screen HDTV but I never watch any of the shows in HD :confused3 (I don't watch very much TV anyways). My cell phone is super old but serves it's purpose, I just buy new batteries off of ebay every year or so. I got a free GPS when I bought 4 tires last year but I still print directions from Mapquest and read maps when I go new places.

So no, I do not have any intention of buying a BluRay player. I'll probably get one for Christmas though!

I am technically challenged , so no blu ray here.

No flat creeen TVs either. I did get a flat screen monitor for the computer but it went out in less than 2 yrs. Thank goodness I held onto the old, bigger monitor I had. Even though it takes up a lot of space on my desk at least I have one!

My cell phone is 3 yrs old and the only reason I got it was because my old Motorola Star Tac (a brick of a phone) finally died. It was only 14 yrs old!

My current car is a 1996 Camry.

I could go on but you get the picture!;)

TC:cool1:

nope.
There haven't been that many movies, I've been motivated to buy, so until my old dvd player dies, no need for me to upgrade.

ok

1) blu ray are not much more in price especially if y oufind deals or get the combo packs which include normal dvd, blu ray dvd amd a digital version

2) if you cant notice a difference from dvd to blu ray then you either have a bad tv, or your whole system hooked up wrong.

3) blu ray players have caught up in price to dvd players now and price is no longer a deciding factor

4) normal dvds will be the way of vhs tapes like it or not

I'm one of those, "gotta have it" tech guys, but, for whatever reason, I've never jumped on the Blu-Ray thing.

I think there are a lot of people still out there watching regular DVD's (look how popular Netflix is). Most people I know are going to Netflix for the streaming media also. I just get this feeling that streaming is the next step and Blu-Ray will only have been a rest stop along the way to getting everyone there.

But that's JMHO.

I would say that streaming is the future, not BluRay. The only reason that we don't have more streaming movies is because the studios are clinging to their outdated business models and are doing everything they can to try and push physical discs instead of streaming, which is quite sad.

I don't want a physical disc, I want to either stream the movie or, for the very rare movie I will re-watch more then once or twice, purchase a ISO or other file that I can just mount and watch. I only purchase MP3's without DRM, not CDs or physical media and will wait until I can do the same with movies.

The music industry fought MP3's tooth and nail and for years the only way to get an MP3 without DRM was to pirate. The movie industry are making the same mistake. If the only option out there to download a movie without DRM is piracy people will pirate. They need to get with the program and offer a digital alternative and people will buy the movies if they are priced reasonably, which means not making the digital copy the same price as a disc.

man this irks me right now. you go to itunes and get a digital copy for 10 - 20..NO WAY!!!!!

I can buy a combo pack for $20 - $30 and get normal dvd, blu ray and a digital copy
