Are We Terrorists?

Apparently, there's a new poster from the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) warning folks about a new terrorist threat:

I'll be sure to alert Disney Security if I see anyone walking around the Magic Kingdom with a dSLR! :cool2:

Don't get me started. One reason I moved out of NYC was all the post 9/11 BS we had to live with.

"Don't let the terrorists win, go about your lives as normal..."

Yeah, uh, we lost that fight. The biggest culprit in creating a paranoid nation, was the US government and law enforcement... because a scared populace is easy to win over. "We're repealing some amendments... in the interest of national security."

I used to love hearing the stories of photogs being hassled by security guards that felt (for whatever reason on that particular day) their buildings could not be photographed in the interests of security. EVERYTHING that was a "security concern" was because of 9/11. EVERYTHING the NYPD did was in the interests of preventing another 9/11. Sign on bridge: "it is illegal to photograph the bridge." :guilty: Glad we have all those reference pics from before they passed the law banning this shot. How do we secure a target vulnerable from 360* of sea, air, land, and space??? Duh, we ban pictures, no pictures today. (say that last part in a stupid voice for effect)

There really is a sheer stupidity that has come to power in that area of the country... although now that I think of it, there is a good amount of that stupidity spread around the country as well.

I especially love things like this poster. "Suspicious photographer". How in the heck did he get to such a "secure area"? He must have subdued all the police with his "tripod". His AF beam shut down all the security cameras. Thank God he brought his camera instead of a shoulder fired missile... today.

You know those terrorists, they stand in front of their potential target with a zoom lens. Just like they discuss their attacks in various online chat forums. That's why 9/11 happened... the FBI and CIA were reading the wrong forums on 9/10.

I remember a sales pitch I got one day: "the property has been designed to prevent a rocket attack from the perimeter..." :sad2:

Thank god the TSA has been formed to replace those awful guards we used to have. I remember one guard who had a discussion with me on how to do something bad to a plane with something I had for carry-on, which he didn't understand why it was allowed. I thanked him for the tip.

Apparently, I need to get rid of my hoodie too!

I've always been under the impression that photographers are terrorists. Them, skateboarders and Mariachi Bands.

I wish you wouldn't have posted this! Now all the terrorists will ditch the DSLR's and go to super zooms. After that, we'll never be able to find one ever again. I'm going to start watching craigslist for when they start selling their lenses. Everybody knows terrorists have the best lenses!

But seriously, go down to the cargo area of an airport and say something about a guy taking pictures outside the fence.. All you're going to get is :confused3 Nobody cares, not even a little. And if your inside no one would think twice about some one with a camera.

Look at that lens! Obviously they're targeting Nikon owners. Canon users are free and clear!

Shoot with Canon and shoot for America!

I need to go to the airport tonight and I can guarantee you I'll be bringing my camera. :)

I wonder if they would freq out if you said, "I'm shooting wide open through the fence, heck, at this Aperture my camera doesn't even know the fence is there!"

Does anyone else find it ironic that the TSA set up a photo shoot for this poster at the airport to warn people about other people taking pictures at the airport?

That's so true!

Actually, why didn't the TSA just arrest this guy? It seems silly that you've got a terrorist taking photos of our airplanes, and all the TSA could do was take a picture of the terrorist taking a picture? The guy's a few feet from you! Put the camera down and arrest the guy!

Yeah - while I was waiting to pick up my bird I started snapping shots. I got a few pictures of the tractor they use to tow around cargo and luggage and no one cared. Then I tried to take a picture of a plane taking off and it was about ten seconds before I was forcibly informed that I was shooting over a "restricted fence". Seriously. It was not even anywhere near the terminal but over an area where the planes take off through. Very strange.

Anyway, here's a shot of the tractor:

Does anyone know if terrorists use professional lenses (such as the white "L" lenses from Canon)? Or are they budget-conscious and stick with just the "kit" lens? :confused3

If they do use professional lenses, would this be a possible solution for someone's Gear Acquisition Syndrome?

Also, does anyone know what brand dSLR produces the best airplane pictures?

:rotfl2: Ouch! Man Down!

I need to stop posting after my first nightcap :rotfl: and before my first cup of coffee. :lmao:
