Are we no longer allowed to add dining plan ourselves?

Very strange. For our upcoming September trip, I was able to book the dining plan online under our reservation online.

This morning, I went to add the dining plan to our January trip and it didn't even give me the option...any ideas?

Has Disney released prices for 2017 yet? Possibly, you cannot order until it does.

Not "released" persay...DVC enters into a separate agreement every year to offer it. They likely haven't finalized that yet. Once they do, you'll be able to add it. That's how they offer it to DVC without having to buy the MYW package.

The one small advantage (other than not having to buy tickets with it) is that the price is fixed once the contract is finalized. That means that we can buy it on 2016 reservations for the price prior to the increase this past March for everyone else. If you think about it, that is a good reason for them not to lock in the agreement too early for 2017.

I added the DDP to our Jan reservation last week. I did it over the phone though, & didn't try online.
