:earboy2: planning our family trip for December and my sister and I are creating a newsletter each month that we are distributing amongst the family stating all the important tips we will need on the trip, packing suggestions, transportation, all the ressies at the restaurants we will have, restaurant reviews, information on our hotel and our itineraries and we even feature a family member each month. Our family has been numerous times together, it is my husband, my 2 year old, my two sisters (we are around 30 years old) and our parents and a cousin. Our cousin, who is around 58 has never been, other than the cousin and the 2 year old, we are all disney veterans, but we are more excited for them and the newsletter seems to help my cousin to get excited and ourselves. My friends think we are crazy to do this newsletter, I say it's just fun!

Toogiebearsdad, is my husband and I am bbearrosenfeld, and I still had his log in while I posted this original post. Just for clarity, this is bbearrosenfeld posting this question. Don't want to post on my husband's name, he might be offended, LOL! :rotfl2:

I'd say its your cousin who's the freak.....58 years and no WDW????? Yeh total freak. ;)

We could be best friends. My sister and I are exactly the same way (and both in our early 30's) We love, love, love disney and the planing is our favorite part. We pick apart our trip and go over everything...and I mean every obsesive detail. We are going in Oct and taking our cousin Aubie (early 20's) and my sisters brother-in-law (36). This is a first for both of them. I think we are more excited about their trip then they are. Since this is their 1st trip we wanted to do a "welcome" letter for them with tips and suggestions on what to bring. I glad we are not alone. :earboy2:

You are CERTAINLY not alone! DH and I are taking mom, dad and sister (12) in December and are doing very similar things. We have a "Disney Movie Sunday" every other week (complete with viewing schedule up through the day we leave) and a weekly newsletter to get them excited. The weekly newsletters have trivia questions, tips, featured attractions, a "pop century photo of the week", this day in Disney history, etc....

I also talked to another DISer about doing a daily "Zip-a-dee-do-dah tip" every day once we are 30 days out, and a "Disney Dinner" about a week or so out to REALLY get everyone stoked :)

DH swears I'm doing it more so I can occupy MY time with Disney stuff, and not so much for the rest of the family.......

I suppose he's half right :rotfl:

Sounds terrific to me! I was the planner of our family reunion at ASSp in 1997. I made trip folders for everyone with maps of their individual routes and highlighted the highways. I included all kinds of Disney tips and information.

Glad I'm not the only one! :earsgirl:

I am planning a December 06 Disney cruise for my family and inlaws and am thinking about doing the same thing. I even started setting up a newsletter format! Since I have been on this board, there are so many things I didn't know and invaluable tips I have learned. I have the most Disney experience of anyone else in our family so I want to make sure that they are prepared so they have such a good time that maybe, just maybe we can turn this into a regular event! If they don't, then I will be blamed for wasting everyone's money on a Disney vacation. :rolleyes1

OMG - I love this idea!!!! We're going next spring with my mom, sister, and niece and the last time we took my sister and niece, she didn't read anything I gave her and was totally unprepared. I think sending a newsletter is a great idea and if you don't mind - I'm going to do it for my family too! Maybe a one page newsletter will be easier for them to wrap their head around than a Disney travel book which I have ready almost every one of but they're not crazy about Disney like I am!

Thanks so much for posting!

Wow, thanks for responding, now I know we are not crazy, just in love with Disney!

I too love the planning! :goodvibes I also love the feeling at WDW. :cool1: Those we haven't gone or just don't get it, are IMHO the freaks. :confused3 I've given up apologizing for loving the World! I really enjoy going with newbies, to see their reactions. However, my absolute favorite part is taking my DD (almost 6) princess: and seeing it through her eyes. On her first trip she was 2 and 9 mo. She dosen't remember it but I have wonderful memories and great pictures. It was the first time my niece-19 (DL CM) also went. My DD was potty trained but still working on it. I will always remember her wanting "Shelley to take me.." (my niece) to the restroom. And of course her fear of the automatic toilets!

Our next trip, this Sept. will be my DD(almost 6) 5th trip. I'm sure you can imagine the looks we get when people ask us where are we going on vacation this time and we answer-"Disney World" The rolling of their eyes and saying "Again" is sooooo predicatble. I don't care. I would go once or twice a year if I could get someone to go with me-besides my DD.

Keep on planning. Know you are not alone!

38 days and counting! YEAH! :cheer2:
