Are We Crazy to Go in July?

Thanks for the info everyone. I am feeling better about booking for July. I am not worried about heat and humidity since most of our trips have been in August so also used to the summer storms. We know how to plan and tour using FP+ just not a fan of heavy crowds. Since we have been many times it's not a deal breaker if we don't get to do specific rides and it's not like we won't be back. We haven't been to WDW in few years though we do our best to have a taste of Disney, if we can, on our trips outside the world like visiting Disneyland Paris when we were in Europe or Aulani in Hawaii. We were originally planning on going to Costa Rica this summer but when free dining was announced I couldn't resist especially when my youngest mentioned she didn't really remember much about going to Disney. That sealed the deal for me. We have such fond memories of going with our older girls who are now in the their 20's so I wanted our little one to have the same experiences.

So we jumped on the free dining bandwagon (July 7-15) since my DH has his vacation time in July this year. We usually go around the last two weeks in August and have also gone the 1st week in December, early to mid March and once in May so don't have any experience with July crowds. How bad are the crowds in July?
Nah. We are doing the same thing. It will be hot - but it is always hot. You might get some rain too. The week after the 4th of July typically winds down crowd-wise. We will be at POFQ that week. It'll be fun!

I'm sure there is plenty of history if you do a search here. Free dining in July seems pretty new, so take advantage...although the premium for the full package price might erase a fair amount of the savings for dining. July is okay - can be (very) hot, and yes it can rain. Rainstorms also are coincided / followed by a mass-exodous in people and shorter waits for a time after the rain stops. Bring ponchos - good times, late hours! Storms in the summer are rarely long-lived.

If July is a crazy time to go, include me on that list! We'll be there from the 2-8. It's hard to pick another time since I teach and DS has band camp.

We haven't been in a few years and DS is super excited to go since she doesn't remember much from the last time we went. I can handle the heat and wet... hot and muggy Disney is better than no Disney!

We often go the last week of July to celebrate a birthday and honestly it's become one of the better times to go. Sure its hot but its hot most of the year in FL. I recommend hitting the parks first thing in the morning and later in the evening. Take a mid day break for rest/swimming/shopping. Take extra care to stay hydrated. Its never been so hot that we were overly bothered by it.
**I will say though that we get a lot of head and humidity in the mid atlantic where we live. If you live in a colder climate and arent use to the sun slapping you in the face when you go outside then maybe July isnt for you.

Crowds in late July are very manageable by current standards. It will still be crowded but not so bad that you cant do anything.

invest in some cooling towels and dont be afraid to look a mess and youll be just fine!

With travel baseball going until July 4th weekend & band camp taking up the last 2 weeks of July, the second week of July is our only option for a family vacation!
