This is not DVC related, but I figured the DVC folks would share my enthusiasm.
My friend and I started traveling together in October about 10 years ago and what started as a 5-night trip has some how exploded into a 9-night adventure this year. This will be our longest trip yet and we are so excited. We are heading down on October 13 and splitting our stay between an AKV CL studio and a BLT 1BR. Last year, we skipped October and went in December for 8 nights so that we could go to Jollywood Nights and MVMCP for the first time. We stayed at the WL (BRV) and really loved the holiday vibes. Well, we got a little carried away with the planning…
I was perusing the SW website, just to see what the airfares were running in December …and my jaw dropped. Over the first weeks of December, SW was offering non-stop flights from our local airport (almost unheard of!) and they were available EVERY DAY! On top of that, the times were PERFECT….and the price? Holy Cow! We could fly Basic for 8,000 points round-trip! I could not book a trip fast enough! I called my friend and told her that we will work out the details of the hotel, tickets and itineraries later but we NEED to book those flights NOW! Both of us had just over 20K points leftover so we were able to book the ANYTIME fares which include our EBCI. BAM! Flights booked….
What have we done!!??? We work the same days so the next step was calling work and making sure that we could both take off the Saturday and Sunday that we are now going to be in Florida. Since only 2 people can be off on a weekend date, we were hoping it was open….and it was! PTO approved! Next step….tell the husbands….both of them gave us the eye-roll and a “Again?” We countered with, “Yes, but this time, it’s only 4 days…you’ll survive”.
Now, we are actually looking at the itinerary and, although it will be tight, it is doable. Our flight departs at 12:30pm and arrives on Saturday at 3:15pm and we plan to have a private car service take us to our resort. We will go straight to HS for Jollywood Nights and if we are a little late for the 5:30pm opening, it’s OK. The next morning, we will sleep in and hang around the resort before going to MVMCP on Sunday night. Monday, we will finally have a day where we can visit Disney Springs. In all of our trips, we have never taken a day to just hit up Disney Springs and shop, or resort hop, or just hang around the pool and relax. Tuesday morning, our flight home is at 10am so we will be checking out by 7am to head back home.
Are we crazy? Yes…but it will be SOOOOO much fun!
