My dh and I were just talking about are upcoming anniversary and we decided to go on a vacation. Are we crazy to plan a trip at the end of July? I know it's going to be miserably hot. How crowded is it, especially since we would be there over a weekend? Is it to late to do our planning and dining? We always stay at Poly or Contemp with the kiddos bc of the monorail. I was thinking about doing AK or saving money and doing a moderate resort. Would you do a moderate. My dh also said no dining bc we can just split meals easier? Or is dining plan better. I appreciate all of the help. We have never gone together without our kids? So I usually just plan around my toddlers! So doing this adult planning is new for us.

Thanks in advance!

:) DH and I do not have children so all of our trips are adult only. One of my favorite resorts is the Port Orleans French Quarter. It is so very quiet and nice there. They have a ferry boat that takes you to DHS from there and a nice pool. It was lovely when we went several years ago. If DH wants to split a meal with you I wouldn't worry about the DDP, especially if you are going for just a couple of days. DH and I normally don't do it and we go for 9 days every year--and we eat at Fulton's, Ca Grill and other nice places just paying out of pocket. WE expect that so we save up for it and know it is most of our budget after room and tickets.

I think you will find POFQ very romantic and small in scale when compared to Riverside or Coronado Springs. Let us know what you pick.:cutie:

The nice thing about booking a moderate is you can pay a little extra and guarantee yourself a King Bed, hahaha! It's just DH and I...we have stayed at POR and CBR, like POR best. Love the option of taking a boat ride to DTD...and the carriage rides around the resort. I would like to stay at POFQ sometime too, both are very romantic resorts, old southern charm....

PS - We did a week at the end of July in 2002 and even though it was hot, we had a grand time!

You are NOT crazy! We always go in July, and yes it is crowded but a good touring plan gets you around all of that! Have fun planning!

We also have no kids, so it is almost always adults only. POFQ is also a spot I would recommend. Very romantic. Worth the upgrade for a pool view, as it is close to the boat docks, restaurants, pool, and main lobby and buses.
We also plan on eating out at nice places, we save up accordingly. We love Shula's at the Dolphin, Yachtman's is another fav of DH. When we do trips that do not include visits to the parks we plan meals at different resorts.
