We are pondering going to DL twice ... once next week just for CA and the beach (nothing like last minute planning!) and once in September just to see DL itself. It's a 9 hour drive from our home, I think we must be crazy to be considering this pirate: And yet, the trip would be fairly cheap, as we have annual passes that we have not even used ONCE - they expire on Oct 4th (we are not able to travel after 9/15). And gas would be about $150-200, hopefully HOJO will have the ent rate next week.

The kids go back to school on 8/1, and I have been very sick the ENTIRE summer ... so we were thinking of a last-chance !SURPRISE! for the kids. How crowded will DL be this coming week? I am sure we aren't the only ones to think of one last trip before school starts! :cheer2:

My husband somehow thinks it could work out for us to go twice ... I am not so sure that is a great idea (DL is fun, but tiring, and I am still not feeling great). If it weren't for the fact that my youngest sister and her husband are celebrating their 1 year anniversary at DL on Sept 10 and want us to join them ... we would just skip Sept altogether. I really hate to pull the kids from school for 4 days to make the trip. But there would be a can with my name on it if we went next week and THEN didn't go with my sister!!

Nope, not crazy at all! I just drove 7 hours for a weekend in San Francisco!! I will tell you though that I have been calling for Ent rates at Hojo for July/August for about 2 months now and there is NOTHING!! So plan on paying AP price there or staying somewhere else!!!

How did your AP's get activated originally if you have never used them? Or did you mean you used them last October but not since?

It will be very busy, but school doesn't start for most of us till the last week of August/first week of September so it won't be like a mad rush, just the usual summer crowds (very crowded but do-able!)

Not crazy one bit! Go for it and have a great time. Oh, and for what its worth, in 2004 here is what my family did:
September 9-13: Disneyland
October 15-25: WDW
November 4-8: Disneyland
December 7-13: Disneyland

So as you can see, I won't dare call you crazy. Gotta love those AP's!

Have to agree with you!!! If you look below, you'll see that crazy is in the eye of the beholder!!! I think you are quite sane to get your money's worth!!!

Yeah, Andrea, I agree crazy is in the eye of the beholder! You and I have talked about this before, I never discourage anybody from taking a trip to Disneyland or WDW! And you can never go too often.

I thought of you when I stopped in Vegas on my way home from DL last month. 114 Degrees, thought I was going to die!

Awww, thanks for thinking of me!! We have definitely been breaking records this summer, all last week my car thermometer was reading about 119 in my neighborhood!!! Gotta go to DL just for the escape from the weather!!!

Bummer about HOJO! But that's what Priceline is for, LOL! :cool1:

We had 5 day parkhoppers last year, and on the last day upgraded them to annual passes with the thought that we would be going in March 2007 (missed due to crisis at work) then in June 2007 (missed due to having chicken pox, liver infection, enlarged spleen & eye ulcer ALL AT ONCE ) then again at the end of Sept 2007 (surgery scheduled).

Our lives tend to be pretty unpredictable, we never *really* know for sure if we are traveling until everyone & everyTHING is in the care :rotfl:

OMG, you poor thing!! If life was fair, you wouldn't get sick again for another 6 years after all that!:sad2:

If I had annual passes I would go too! 9 hours doesn't seem that long when you are going to Disney!

In September the HM and Casey Jr. will be closed so if you/your kids like them then see them in July. The fireworks and Fantasmic are also only shown on the weekends in Sept.
