Are we allowed to use our own kayak?

On our next visit to the Fort, we would like to kayak around the waterway that runs thru Fort Wilderness. Does anyone know if we are allowed to use our own kayaks, or do we have to rent from Disney. We have friends that live about 45 minutes from WDW and we would have them visit for the day and kayak and spend time at the Fort. Will we be allowed to do this?
