i dont want to bore my guests with cheese......can you tell me if these are too much or too long? Thanks fellow disers! :thumbsup2

Doug, long ago as a little girl, I prayed that God would send me a “prince charming”. Today my prayers have been answered. God gave me you, my prince, at a moment in my life when I least expected it. James 1:17 says, “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above….” I now understand that God created you to be the perfect gift, of which I am blessed. I promise to be your best friend, your support, and your soft place to fall. I will honor and obey you, as you honor and obey Christ. I promise to respect you and cherish you. Through richer or poorer, sickness and health, sorrow and joy, I will be true to you. Today I give you my love, my friendship, and my unconditional commitment, until death parts us. This is my promise to you.

too much? or just right? i am so confused! :confused3

Awe that's so sweet  I think it's just right, definitely not too long. Nice job, Tinkbride :)

Well now that tears are running down my face, I think it's beautiful. It definitely gave me goose bumps and not at all too long. If I'm crying through your vows, how will I ever make it through my own?

Thank you so much for all the replies! I am in trouble, each time I try to read through them I get choked up, so definately need to put hankerchief (sp?) on the list of things to look for!

Perfect!!!! I cried my eyes out. I pray that your marriage will be just what you expect. I celebrated 20 Years this year and I am just as happy as day 1.

 This made me cry too!! Wow I'm so impressed.....I think that your vows are PERFECT and I would NOT change a thing!!! I know it'll be a wonderful moment for you and your DH to be and I'm sure that there will be no dry eyes in the room!!

Aaaahhhh....gee whiz...now I'm getting teary! Tinkbride, I am not usually a fan of personalized vows. I hate that they are often too long, too intimate for we poor trapped guests, and seem mostly to be just "showing off"--so when I say I really appreciated yours, take it as a huge compliment.

The vows are beautiful, Tinkbride, and not one bit cheesy. Short, sweet, obviously from the heart, and lovely. I very much appreciate how you "invited God" into your ceremony by placing Him in the center of the vows.

Excellent job! :thumbsup2

Oh, and PS to the hankerchief thing: I am using my late grandmother's monogrammed linen hankie that she carried down the aisle when she married my grandpa, as well as the penny she wore in her shoe. (we keep everything in this family!) The hankie will be part of the handle of my bouquet. It's my "something old", and the penny in the shoe for luck thing. And since the hankie still smells of the lavender sachet she kept in her hankie/scarf drawer it will maybe seem a little like she is there with me. If you don't have anything similar, maybe buy a very pretty hankie, and keep it as the heirloom you can pass down.

Great idea kimnkel!

I come form a large italian family, so i am sure there is a traditional something in the loop! lol! :rotfl2:

I am gonna ask my aunts and uncles, all my grandparents are deceased, so hopefully someone hung on to an heirloom to incorporate!
