Are these places any good?

Have ADR for Mama Melrose anf Capt'n Jacks. Reviews I've read are mixed so far. Any opinions?

We go to Mama Melrose's every year. We've always had great service and good food. It is by no means gourmet, but it is better than a lot of places we have eaten at Disney. My DH has had the chicken parmesan twice and said it was very tasty; I've had the four cheese flatbread pizza and loved it. Also enjoyed the appetizers. The desserts are fair.

Have not eaten at Captain Jack's but was pleasantly suprised by Mama Melrose-we had flatbread pizzas and salads-nice atmosphere and good service.

We had a good meal at Moma Melrose's and had the fantastmic package....never ate at Capt. Jack's....not a big seafood fan!

There are great and awful post on every restaurant, so I have learned not to hold too much faith in them overall.

I now try and look at the menu, the atmosphere and what we will be eating the whole week and make choices based on variety.
We have an upcoming trip in Dec.
While we will visit a few old favorites such at Chef MIckeys, Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare, I always plan on a few new ones for us also.
I made ADR's at some that we have never visited-Kona, Boma, Chefs De France and Tutto Italia.
That left DHS-
I first made a ressie at Hollywood and Vine-but decided we had enough buffet meals already planned.
So I changed it to Mamma Melrose-then realized we already at Italian at Tutto Italia with the CP package.
So I called and changed it to a late lunch (3pm) at 50's Prime Time.
The atmosphere and menu really earned it points.Good ole familiar comfort food and I read enough great reviews to whet my appetite. Of course there were some not so good, but that is true for every restaurant.
So I guess my advice is too read the menu, look at the style and atmosphere and just go for what sings to you.

When we ate dinner at MM in 06 we didnt care for it but we had lunch there last month and it was very good. I have dinner booked there in Jan 09...cant wait to try it again

We ate at Mama Melrose on our last trip and enjoyed our meal. The food was much better than I was expecting and the service was good as well.

Capt. Jacks was good the last time I was there, but as a previous poster mentioned, there are always good and bad with every location.

We are going back again in September and are looking forward to another great meal there!

Thanks again for all the advice.:flower3: We are a party of 11 traveling durinng free dining I not sure what else is open. Has anyone ever had any luck dining with a large group without a ADR. We are split up into several tables. with most of the restaurants anyway, but we are trying for the most part to eat one meal together a day.

Enjoyed MM the second time I went there, (not the first time). Been to Captain Jack's for dinner and lunch. Lunch was fine but dinner was not good. Could be the luck of the draw.

We were at Cap'n Jacks in June. We don't eat seafood but found other items that were good-nothing special though!

My family tried out MM for the first time in February and we weren't very pleased. I had the Wood-grilled Chicken and found it to be sub par - Looking back on it now I would have taken counter service over that meal. Inside looked nice but we were seated in a corner by the entrance with nobody else around which kinda ruined it for me; I like to see the reactions of families around me so in the end it turned out to be a bust.
