Are there still rides that have little to no wait most of the time?

We are a Disneyland family, and haven't ventured to WDW in about 7 years (other than a day here or there).

We will arrive around 6 our first night there. We weren't planning on going in, but got an extra day on our ticket.

Anyway, I was going to get FP for the parade (if possible), talking Mickey, and then maybe Peter Pan or another ride the whole family can ride.

Other than that, I'd like to hit a few attractions that won't have too much of a wait. We are going on Saturday, March 7th. I've read that since FP+, even the quick loaders have quite a wait at time.

Is the People Mover still a walk on most of the time? What about Philharmagic, Haunted Mansion (minimal wait?) or Small World? Any shows you might recommend we can see that first night?

Yes, PeopleMover and Philharmagic should be walk-ons. HM can get lengthly, small world shouldn't be too bad. The laugh floor is also good with a short wait. Also, Under the Sea - I haven't seem with long waits yet.

the carousel! Though last week I waited like 5 minutes for it, which was a lot....

Saturday, March 7 has PM EMH at MK until 3 AM, so lines in the mid and late evening might be longer than they would be otherwise because of people planning to stay past midnight.

If you are looking for things the whole family can do, the lines at Dumbo are much shorter than they used to be because of its less prominent location and added capacity. That could be one to try if you're going to be in the area for Under the Sea.

small world had very very very very very very very long lines in november when DD was there.
The line was over an hour much of the time.
It even got up to 90 minutes!!! Mind boggling but true.
who waits 90 minutes to ride it's a small world????????????

carousel of progress
enchanted tiki room
monsters in laugh floor
the tea cups
prince charmings carousel
philharmagic

those basically all have no wait except for the previous show to finish in the case of the shows. Small world can get a pretty good wait actually so I wouldn't count on that one at all

you could think of it that way, or you could think who goes to the magic kingdom and DOESN'T want to ride small world? 90 minutes is insane but fastpass plus has definitely increased standby waits at small world noticably

and i have to wonder what newbies who wait 90 minutes think once they get on the ride.. (as in, "we waited 90 frigging minutes for THIS???)
well....at least it's a nice respite from the weather....just don't fall out of the boat when you fall asleep...

Wow, at DL I've never waited more than 15 minutes MAYBE for Small World. Yikes!

To the OP, maybe the attached "cheat sheet" from the easywdw site will help you.

http://www.easywdw.com/cheatsheets/mk_cheatsheet.pdf

If you scroll down to the final page there is a chart showing estimated wait times at various attractions at different times of the day when the MK is open from 9 AM until midnight on a day with heavy crowds. For the day you are visiting (March 7), easywdw predicts a crowd level of 6, so the wait times on this chart should be, if anything, a little longer than what you might expect.

I waited well over a half hour in Oct 2013 for IASW at DL. And this was mid-October and the middle of the week...

Oh great, IASW is my daughter's all time favorite. I skipped it for FP because we have never waited longer that 20 minutes, but it's been a few years because it was closed for refurb during our last trip. (And we had to hear "Is it open yet?" every single time we walked by :sad2: )

Really? That's so odd to me. We go in the summer and even when the que is outside the ropes it's less than 15 minutes. Maybe we've just been lucky.

Now that IASW has FP+ there are very few times when there's a short wait. Same with HM, POTC. It's sad really, because the SB for these rides was never too bad usually less than 20 minutes when we were there, but that was never during the peak seasons.

Oh, now this gives me the sadz :( I saw someone mention that Little Mermaid doesn't have a long wait. Maybe I will swap that for IASW, last time we went Little Mermaid was relatively new and I remember it having really long lines.

We just left MK yesterday. It was open until 3 am. Starting about 11:00 pm lines drop significantly. Only Peter Pan and 7 dwarves had lines over 70 min after midnight. Tho Space said 25 min wait it really was walk on. Same with btmrr. Splash was a walk on. Pirates had a 20 min line but I'm pretty sure that's because it was annoying closed all week.

Anyway, if you get there at 6 and had fp+ for PP and 7 dwarves you shouldn't have long waits for much of anything else after 11 pm. As for iasw, we discovered you could almos always go to a fp+ kiosk and get a 4th fp and iasw would pop up as an immediate option. Although they didn't run fp for emh last night. And iasw was a walk on from 11 pm on.

If it were me I'd get my fp+ for 7-9:30 pm. Mix those three attractions with philharmagic and laugh floor and dinner. Then watch Wishes. Then start riding everything else.
