to the number of points you buy from Disney? I know you must buy at least 150, but can we buy any number above that? We are considering 175 for out initial purchase.

You'll be fine. I think the upper bound is somewhere near 5000 points per resort ... but I'm not terribly certain of that number. (Somewhat out of my range, you'll understand.)

2000 per resort, 5000 total. A couple (or any 2 people) can both buy in their own name, doubling the total.

And you can buy ANY number you want, 151, 152, etc. If you do an add on, the min is 25 if you pay cash and 50 if you finance but again you can buy 26, 27, 51, 52, etc.
