Are there Resorts you like, but realize you will not stay there because of something?

I'm with thunderbird1, for the same reason. WL looks really nice but it and Fort Wilderness have absolutely no appeal to us (especially DS) because it looks just like we are at home. QUOTE]

Mine is the exact opposite...with regard to Saratoga Springs...it doesn't feel enough like home. (let me explain) The *real* Saratoga Springs in NY is my hometown and the Disney version really does not capture its "essence" imo. Aside from the names of some things (High Rock Spring, Congress Park, etc) and throwing some horse memorabilia around, there really isn't much of a link to home for me. It certainly looks like a nice resort, but just doesn't look anything like what I know Saratoga Springs to be.

Well, I think AKL is so beautiful. We've visited several times to dine and we always take the time to explore a little. The only thing is it's so far removed from anything but the Animal Kingdom. And I love the Animal Kingdom, but I think we would feel so far away from everything else. All the hoop-a-la. I like hoop-a-la which is why we like the monorail resorts and the Epcot Resort area. Also, it seems to me if you were to book a standard room vs. a savannah view you might get an awful room right there in front where the buses come up OR if you book a savannah room it appears that some of the views wouldn't be so great.

I don't know - I want to stay there but I have reservations about it. One day what I think we'll do is a split stay. Maybe a couple of nights at AKL and then switch to one of our favorites. I'd love to stay in concierge and do the Sunrise Safari. Or, we thought about taking a short trip and staying there vs staying there for our main longer trip.

Pam - Split stay; that is how we first tried AKL as we didn't want to give up YC/BC. We really liked it and did the AKL - Poly split stay last year. For a couple of nights it was nice to be "removed" from too much action. We would do AK, MGM and even MK on our AKL nights stay. The AKL transportation is great as it only serves AKL!

That is why I like to resort hop, so I can check things out ahead of time. We will not stay at the BC, YC or Boardwalk because I can get the Swan and Dolphin so much cheaper. Since we have AP's we do not need the dining plan so staying there is ok with us.

I totally agree with you. We live in Clifton Park (only 15 minutes from the REAL Spa City) and it is absolutely nothing like Saratoga. So I have no interest in staying there.

I also agree with others about the food court issue. You can't really call Roaring Fork at WL a "food court". Hardly any choices there. I guess since my first food court experience at WDW was at CBR and there were tons of choices.

I wouldn't choose to stay at WL again-not worth it for the money paid. Yes it is beautiful (especially at Christmas time) but the rooms are poorly laid out and not much bigger than those at the mods.

DH would like to stay at CR sometime, but the price just kills me.

I like the Boardwalk and GF, and I used to think we'd get around to staying at both some day. Then we stayed at YC last summer and loved it so much, that I don't know if I can stay anywhere else. We really enjoyed SAB, so I guess the lack of SAB at the other hotels might prevent me from staying at them.

DH won't stay anywhere other than the YC/BC either.... :rotfl: We got spoiled on our honeymoon and have stayed there every trip since :thumbsup2

We love to visit the Contemporary, but have no urge to stay there. It's too busy and noisy. We don't particularly like the Magic Kingdom, so being close wouldn't make much of a difference. The theming just doesn't impress us either.

All Star Sports and All Star Movies don't appeal to us either, but we've stayed at (and loved!) All Star Music.

I've stayed at most of the Disney resorts, now working my way through DVC resorts. I've had great experiences every where I've stayed. Looking forward to trying AKV when they have the new building open.

The values are the only place I wouldn't choose to vacation at unless I'm going down by myself and getting together with some of my internet friends. We were there one year with a cheer group and they over ran the place.

I would never stay at the Poly- no, not because of the price, but because of the theme. I have to hear that music all day long, I don't want to hear it on vacation, and I certainly don't want/need another lei- I hate the smell of flowers, they give me a migraine.

GF is too frou-frou for me, I'm not into the Victorian stuff, though the grounds are lovely. No interest in POR/POFQ, CBR, Swan/Dolphin or FW, again, the theming doesn't appeal.

We stayed at the Poly for our honeymoon but we got a great rate of $98.00 per night. Otherwise I would probably never stay on any of the monorail resorts. If I'm going to pay $250+ per night on a room I need jacuzzi tubs, and probably a suite situation. That is why I'm glad we are now DVC, a one bedroom at a deluxe is a beautiful thing.

Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I think it's a beautiful resort.....LOVE the restaurants......incredible views/surroundings......but......the only transportation available is bus service. And it's SOOOO far isolated from everything.

Agreed! ::yes::

I would love to stay at the BW! Only thing stopping me is the cost. Not quite in my budget at the moment. I'd love to stay at the Poly again too. I stayed there as a kid before it got so incredibly expensive and used to love it.

My favorite that I can afford is the POFQ. The only ones I have no desire to stay at are the values. I just hate all the oversized icons. They just strike me as really tacky, although I realize many people love them.

having been through the grand floridian while resort hopping, we have no desire to stay there. the only reason - just not our *style* although it is beautiful, I don't find it comfortable
