Hello,

We will be visiting MK in May. The last two times we went, we found the food to be just terrible. One time we ate at Tony's Town Square, and the food was absolutely gross. I am wondering if there really is a decent restaurant in MK. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Melissa

Not really. We choose to usually go to Liberty Tree once a trip, for the atmosphere and to have a sit down meal in MK, but it isn't great.
I would suggest hopping on the monorail and going to one of the resort restaurants.

The only place we go to in MK is Crystal Palace.

If we want a nicer meal, we head to The Wave or the GF.

We really like Liberty Tree Tavern at lunch (never been for dinner) and Crystal Palace for breakfast.

We also love the Crystal Palace, but only eat there for breakfast. We usually have Columbia Harbor House (I like their BLT salad) for CS - nothing else is that appetizing. We keep trying Pecos Bills but it's been so-so each time. Sadly, I enjoy the corn dogs in Frontierland as much as anything :)

So, if we were to hop on the monorail, which restaurants would you suggest? I want to try and make some reservations as soon as I can. Thanks!

We like The Plaza in MK for TS, have you looked at that? If not,

I agree with pp, you could check out the monorail resorts - we enjoyed the Grand Floridian Cafe, I have also have good things about The Wave at CR, but have not been there yet.

DH & I did that and we really enjoyed Ohana. We had a nice window table with a view of the castle. My favorite partw of the meal were not the skewers (not a beef and fish fan) but all the other stuff. Yummy. We are hoping to go back there next trip.

At the MK we like Crystal Palace.

If you want to try a restaurant at one of the monorail resorts, we love Kona Cafe at the Poly.

we love the Wave and the best part is you can just walk over and walk back, it takes like 15 minutes. The last two times we went I was stuck at a non-functioning monorail so if I can walk somewhere that makes is doubly better! Or try Narcoossee's or Citrico's at the GF. Otherwise for counter service I like Columbia Harbor House, Cosmic Rays or Casey's Corner

No.
Would recommend some monorail restaurants, but need to know what sort of food you like, price range, etc.

I'm looking for something relatively economical - not a big expensive meal. We'll have our three daughters with us, ages 8, 6, and 3, so we also need a child-friendly place (not that I would expect many places to be un-child friendly in Disney!LOL). We like most foods, but I need something that my kids would eat too - although for the most part, they'll eat lots of stuff. Any other suggestions would be great. Thanks again!

Yes, Crystal Palace dinner is great!! It has the best food at a character dinner. On the monorail resorts, I highly recommend Ohana... it's one of the best WDW restaurants.

We liked the plaza for lunch. Sandwiches is the thing here. It was very convenient for us after a morning entry jaunt. DS 10 was on adult plan and is picky and DS 8 was on children's. Good, filling meal. Books fast though, not alot of tables in there.

Crystal Plaza is also nice if you want to do a character lunch/brunch buffet. Both kids liked it fine and found food they liked.

As a general rule, I tend to find resort dining better than park dining, with the notable exception of EPCOT of course, but even then only a few of the places.

Near MK, I'd have to say Ohana is pretty kid friendly. I mean, every kid eats noodles and broccoli and wings right? My kids eat asparagus, so perhaps I'm not the norm, but there you are.

Crystal Palace and LTT for dinner are tolerable, if you have to stay in the park. If you're on the dining plan I'd say one of the buffets, for the greatest choice. If you're going OOP, then really soup at CHH or chicken at Cosmic Rays isn't too bad. If we're doing OOP we tend to eat heavy snacks all the time and skip TS, or buy a single CS meal and split it. If you're looking for economical, that half chicken with green beans at Cosmic Rays split between two kids works pretty well (I've done this).

The Grand Floridian Cafe is nice. Burgers, Soup, Sandwiches.

I'd just as soon skip the food in MK and take the monorail to a resort or Epcot... but sometimes it is more convenient to eat while you are there. Given that, my kids LOVE Crystal Palace, and you can make a pretty good meal there. Skip the desserts, but there are usually a couple of interesting salads (a tasty quinoa and shrimp, and a good asian soybean salad) and some good items on the hot buffet. For counter service, Columbia Harbor House isn't bad. I had a hummus sandwich with broccoli slaw on our last trip that was a decent lunch. Once we bought sandwiches at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot on our way out of Epcot headed to MK and had a picnic with them an hour later in MK when we were ready for lunch.
