Are There Potty Chairs For Toddlers In Baby Care Centers??

Grandson is just catching onto the potty training!!! At daycare, they have little toliets, close to the floor! At home he either sits on potty chair(rarely), or stands on a stool at toliet! Pull-ups at nite! ! Not sure how to handle this at WDW! Hate to see him go backward with potty-training!! We go middle of July!! Hopefully, he will be completely trained!! Any suggestions on how you handle toddlers and the bathroom breaks at WDW will be appreciated!! Daughter suggested I ask my DIS friends what they did!!

I have seen a little potty just for children at the baby care center at MGM. Have not seen one elsewhere, but I was never looking for one.

I have also seen inflatable potties for toddlers. Not sure where, but I bet you could find one with a search engine.

There definitely are not any lower toilets or anything at the babycare center in MK. I know because I looked last week. Dh said that most of the men's restaurants had a lower toilet or two and child-height sinks. I did notice some lower sinks in a few ladies' restrooms but not lower toilets. I may have missed them. This would have made life so much easier with my 2.5 yo dd.

DB gave me the best tip for DS3 for public potties. No Extra equipment needed. Here's what you do....(pls no flames)

Place DGS standing up on the edge of potty facing in. Hold him around waist but suspend or lean him slanted a little forward and down, towards the water. Make sure he's aiming down. Let 'er rip

Last year (July 2004) we had the same issue with our son. He was just going on 3 at the time and had been diaper free w/ no accidents (still pull-up at night) for about a month. A few weeks before our trip I bought the fold-up potty seat for outings. At the time he was so touchy with the potty that if the slightest thing was "off" he would just hold it as long as he could. I got him familiar with the potty seat before our trip so at Disney World he was totally comfortable using it. Of course, sitting on the big potty without it scared him silly. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting the fold-up seat. It is small enough to fit in your purse and comes with a plastic zip-type bag to store it in. I kept it in the bag and also kept wipes to clean the seat after each use, then I put that into a smaller tote. It was a lifesaver. I am just thinking that even if the Child Centers have smaller potties, you'll be stuck if your little guy has to go and you are only next to a regular bathroom. The seat will come in handy for quite a while. I think it took my son 6 months after being potty-trained to sit on a big potty w/ no potty seat.

I also bought a fold up potty seat for my son at Babies R Us. I was suprised how small it was. When my son has to go, we need to find the bathroom right away. He would not be able to make it to a Child Care center.

Don't buy the fold-up seat cover from One Step Ahead. It didn't fit on any toilet at WDW. My DD4 was scared that the seat would fall in so we didn't use it after a while.

My 2.5 year old DS is in the process of training. We got the fold up seat a while ago, and he is just now starting to use it when we are out and about. It doesn't sit well on the longer/oval type shaped toilet seats, but DH came up with a game plan for that. We put the fold up seat at the very front of the big toilet seat with a few layers of tp between the two (just incase he "pees out" as he calls it). We just make sure he leans forward a little so all his weight (all 34lbs of it) is not concentrated at the back of the seat. Works out really well. We clean the seat with extra wipes after each use. He even likes folding it back up and putting it in the carry bag by himself. We keep it and the other necessary training items (extra wipes, change of pants/underwear...) in a winnie the pooh back pack that is just his size. He is so proud to carry it that he gets angry if we try to pick it up. Really cute. I only hope he is fully trained before we go to WDW in August. But I think we'll be ok. In the last three weeks, he has only had 2 accidents...

Not sure if he is tall enough for this, and it only works for "standing up business" but here is what I did with my DS when he was training.

I would have him stand on my feet facing the potty. Then I would stand up on tip toe. I could then use my knees to aim him a little bit. Worked pretty well.
