I assumed that Scuttle's cove had shovels and pails for the children to use. But I have noticed that people are posting that you should bring your own. Could someone tell me if there are some available at CC, if they are free/you can rent/you must buy them?

I don't remember how much they cost but they were NOT cheap! Plus you don't have them for St. Maarten and St. Thomas.

They are $15 so bring your own or do without. My kids7&9 didn't care for them but lots of younger ones were using them.

There are ones to use free of charge at Scuttle's Cove, but they are 1st come 1st serve. If you're concerned about your child getting one-bring your own. I just bought a combo pack from the $1 store with pail/shovel/sandcastle maker for $1. We did a beach day on St. Maarten and everyone was so jealous of us-all the parents had to spend $$$ to get stuff for their kids.

Little insider tip that we got was that there are sand toys at Scuttles Cove. Two trips and we've never had a probelm getting things. Just stop at the check-in desk there and they have many to select from. We didn't bother bringing our own sand toys but we did bring our own floats. Bought big round ones at Target for a few bucks and then used them at St.Marten and CC. I wrote our names on them. They were bright green and pink so I could easily spot my kids!

I bought 2 sand shovels and 2 small square castles at Toysrus today. I would love to bring the big round and square ones Costco sells, but when you fly, there is no way to pack those big ones up. These are compact enough to fit in suitcases and big enough for the kids to enjoy.
