are there any rides DD can't ride in a cast or walking boot?

Taking a trip in 5 weeks - DD (10) re-injured her ankle Friday and we don't know if she will still be in a cast, a walking boot, or all clear.

When we went to Busch Gardens & Kings Dominion in the summer (DD was in a walking boot mostly for protection), they would not clear her for some of the rides because of the boot and the way your feet were locked in. Are they any rides at any of the 4 Disney World parks that she may not get to ride if she is in a leg cast (below the knee) or a boot?

I cannot think of any. There are mainly two criteria. One is that the person can board the ride vehicle and the other is that the cast cannot injure them or another Guest. As WDW does not have any hanging rides locking mechanisms tend to be bars or belts. I know that Space Mountain uses a T-Bar between the legs and RnRC has a restraint that comes over the shoulders.

My son went with a splint on his nose and cast on his arm all from one rugby game one week before we left. The only thing he wasn't allowed on were the very tall slides at the water parks. He had a swim cast so actually went on everything else.

My daughter went to WDW last December with a walking cast on her foot. She was allowed to ride everything that she wanted to. The only problem we ran into was that she walked so much the first two days she rubbed a hole in the cast show and the cast actually started ripping from the foot up!

We rented her a chair for the rest of the week so as to keep the cast intact until we got home :)

Thanks everyone! Hopefully she will be okay by the trip. She has to be checked by the doctor every 2 weeks, so if she is still in a cast I will ask him to re-cast her in a swim cast. She will be healed enough that none of the rides will injure her ankle, but we will likely skip universal. The doctor seems to think that she will be fine for the trip, she just won't be able to walk for extended periods so we are looking at a wheelchair.

There is no reason to skip Universal Studios as the only rides she would not be able to ride would be the same type as at Busch Gardens. Some parks will not allow casts on rides where the feet dangle. Good luck on the trip.

My son was just out of his cast when we went a few years ago. After just a few hours of walking he couldn't keep up and it really bothered him. Remember if she's out of the cast she won't be used to flexing her ankle, and if she has a walking cast on she'll probably have blisters and such. We just planned on the rest of our stay to rent a chair each day. We were also directed to the wheelchair entrance for each ride/show we chose to see. Sometimes we used it sometimes we didn't. Made our trip much more enjoyable.
