Are the value resort really booming lately?

Just made reservations for the AKL and the cast member I spoke asked how many times I've been to WDW, when I last visited and the usual battery of questions. Then he said, "I assume you're staying at one of our value resorts?" I thought that was kind of an odd supposition. Does anyone know if those rooms selling out a lot lately or something?

Strange question and/or assumption on his part. Hmmm......

That's crazy. We just got back from WDW and I can't say that it was more crowded than usual at the values for this time of year -- CSR was though -- they had a huge convention there.

I'd chalk that comment up to a cm that has no mouth filter!

The values used to sell out very fast during free dining back when guests staying value got the regular DDP for free.

The rest of the time, I think its pretty even as to what resorts sell out. The larger resorts generally take long since they have more rooms.

Now I do wonder if people with this bad economy overall book cheaper rooms (I know I did) but then again, Disney is offering incentives to book a mod or deluxe ($500 and $700 gift card vs. $300 for value guests etc.).

I thought it was pretty odd. I am so excited to be staying at the AKL and with the 35% off discount code, we are paying $227/night for club level! Such a deal!:cool1:

We've got a king room too. This will be a sort of second honeymoon in July. I have to think of more grown-up and romantic arrangements to make.

That is a great deal, congratulations on that! Sad to say, I am a bit jealous, that is only $67 a night more than what I am paying for Pop Century during our Easter week trip. It pays to go when the deals are there! But for us with two teenagers who can't miss school, its peak time only I'm afraid. But I'm still excited so its all good!

I would say it's the economy. People really want to go on vacation but can't afford the big price tag. I'm sure we would be doing Pop if I didn't get a great rate at AKL. It was only $200 more for our entire stay. Couldn't let that slip by!
