Are the US/IOA table service restaurants as hard to book as WDW?

We're booked at Portofino Bay for October 4-8. Now family is starting to examine the info on dining that we are able to find (Is there an informative dining thread out there anywhere??) I bought the umpteenth travel book yesterday, as usual it focuses on Disney, but this one has a little more on US/IOA. Question is this: how close to arrival can I book places like Mythos, Confisco Grille and Enchanted Oak in IOA and Lombards in US? Also, any inout on the food? In the same vein, is it hard, or necessary, to book CityWalk restaurants?

Except for character breakfasts, you can pretty much just walk into those restaurants you mentioned.Showing your room key will get you next available seating. With Mythos, we usually stop in during the morning and make a rewervation or that day for lunch or dinner.
Mythos and Lombard's Landing are two of our facorites.
For Emerils and Emeril's Tchoup Chop (another favorite) you will need advance reservations. You can make those on opentable.com

gschmerl gave you my suggestions. We haven't tried Lombard's yet, but will be next month. Mythos is great! Emeril's @ CW is a must do, & the popular dinner times book up early. Most people love Tchoup Chop too. We like Emeril's better, but will be trying TC again next month hoping the 1st time we went was an off night. I'll let you know, when we get back. :teeth: Some of the best restaurants are at the resorts. Emeril's is the exception.

Mytho's is absolutely delicious! We ate there twice on our last trip, and are planning on going twice on our next trip, too. It's one of my favorites! Both times we went we were able to walk right in. The restaurant is huge, seeing most booths can seat up to 8 people, so I doubt you'll have a problem.

When it comes to CityWalk restaurants, I would make a priority seating. When we went to Margaritaville we had a half-hour wait. This was in the middle of the summer so it will most likely be a lot less crowded then. We just made our Margaritaville PS yesterday, we LOVED it last year. It was honestly the best restaurant of our trip.

Thanks folks. Questions about Mythos: menu items I'm seeing sound a bit exotic, my family isn't really into experimenting. DH is a grilled fish, steak, baked potato type guy. I remember his meal at Spoodles on the Boardwalk, he was ticked that they didn't offer a baked potato with his ribeye, he was given ~6 sweet potato fries. I'll do pasta, seafood, most grilled meats & poultry. Kids are pretty laid back, not really into the chicken finger/ mac & cheese scene. I'm also looking forward to Bubba Gump on CityWalk. Margaritaville sounds good too. Know we'll probably hit HRC on our departure day for lunch. The menu at Enchanted Oak sounds good too. Looking forward to the trip!

Don't miss Mythos. They have great seafood. If they don't like "exotic" food, they have good burgers. The risotto of the day is usually fantastic. I love the "cowboy sandwich".
