Are the Signature Restaurants worth it?

My family got the free dining plan this August and we've planned out all of our restaurants. We had an extra table service credit, so I decided to book a signature restaurant for one night- Narcoossee's. Do you think it's worth it? Just to give you some background- we're from NYC so we are used to fine dining, and we are all over 18 (but still young at heart!).

I've heard mixed reviews for Narcoossee's; would I be better off going to a different restaurant? The only other signature restaurants we've tried are Cali Grill and The Brown Derby, and we loved both of them!

We've never eaten at Narcoossee's (we have an ADR for December), but as far as signature restaurants, we've eaten at Artist Point and Yachtsman Steakhouse and both of those were awesome :thumbsup2. If you've wanted to try Narcoossee's, I say go for it as you won't know if it's worth it to you until you try it :).

and find out.

There is a lengthy thread below about restaurants people regret. I don't regret restaurants. I just don't try them anymore. Some of my favorite places were stumbled upon (some literally). Some of my mistakes were stumbled upon and some recommended. Life is an adventure.

The signatures, in general, are worth the extra credit if you have it. Narcoossee's is not my favorite but it is good. I would do Artist Point or CG or Flying Fish or Jiko first, but I wouldn't hesitate Narcoossee's again if invited by friends.

I would have to say that the signature restaurants are often worth it. Sometimes not, and sometimes disastrously not, but overall the fit and finish of these restaurants are a notch above the 1TS restaurants. Some 1 TS restaurants, though, I prefer over some signature restaurants.

I'd vote for Flying Fish (had a wonderful experience there in May) or Citricos over Narcoossee's, but that's just my personal preference.

We have eaten at Narcoossees on almost every trip; we really like it.

We have also eaten at Victoria and Albert's. If you want signature, you can't go wrong there.

We frequently use the DxDDP, so do alot of Signautres. We think they are worth it on the DxDDP, but not so much on the basic DDP, since the basic DDP doesn't include the appetizer, so we'd have to pay OOP anyway. I'd rank them:

1. Flying Fish
2. Artist Point
3. California Grill
4. Jiko
5. Citricos
6. Narcoosee
7. Yachtsman
8. Brown Derby
9. CRT

Considering that the op is getting the DDP for free, of course it is 'worth it' to use 2 of their free credits for a signature meal.

We pretty much only dine at Signatures for dinner, because to us, yes it's worth it. Depends on your tastes and dining preferences though. Citrico's and Narcoossee's are probably my favorites...

I hate sounding like a broken record, but the "signature" designation is more about marketing than quality. Yes, there are good restaurants so designated, but most of them were even better before the "signature" designation and the DDP and free dining came about. Choose your dining according to what you want to eat, looking at menus online, and reviews. That way you will probably get the most out of your dining credits and still get to eat at some good restaurants.

+1 to this.

However, among the signature restaurants, Narcoossee's is pretty far down my list of favorites. I'd recommend Jiko, Citrico's, Flying Fish or Artist Point.

A signiture is part the experience and part the food. It is better service, better presintation and you are not rushed. If you do decide plan on paying out of pocket for appetizers as the servings will be small again it is part an experience.
If you are looking for larger portions that can be a whole meal and to have your food 15 minutes later than skip the signiture.....

Love, love California Grill. I will be going back there. We also did Hollywood Brown Derby. It was really good too but I can skip it. Have not tried the others yet.

I would pick Citricos over Narcoossee's. It was excellent and we felt that the food and service were some of the best. Of course just being at the GF makes you feel that you are getting "signature" service all around. Enjoy!

We love signature dining. Narcoossee's is my DD17's favorite restaurant. The rest of us enjoy it as well.

Since you haven't tried it and have the extra credit to spare, I'd give it a try. After all you'll never know if you don't see for yourself.

We love our signatures restaurants. As dh told me after our last trip in May, we won't go back to regular DDP because Signature restaurants are what we like. However we didn't have a great experience at Narcossess but I do intend on giving it another try next month and I am hoping to get better service and better food because as of now, we really don't like the place

Is Narcoossee's worth it? No

Now Citricos...oh man is that totally worth it

No disrespect to the original poster, but I don't understand the question. Are the "signature" restaurants worth a break from fast food? Do they offer better than average and in some cases excellent meals? Yes to both questions.

I'm referring to those "signatures" at the resorts, by the way.

wow, i definitely wasn't expecting such a huge response! thanks to everyone who replied :goodvibes:goodvibes

it seems like most people recommend artist point, citricos, or flying fish over narcoossee's so i'll have to do some research and see what the fam thinks. we'll probably do either citricos or narcoossee's since we're staying at the polynesian and it's more convenient, but the menu at flying fish is certainly tempting! thanks for the suggestions!
