Are the rules different in WDW? Isn't this rude?

O.K. so we just got back from a wonderful 9 day trip and for the most part it was great. I am a little confused about one thing though. Isn't it rude to talk out loud during a show. I know it is in the real world, but are the rule different a WDW? We were at Beauty and the Beast and this lady behind us talked out loud for the entire show....."OOOOH Bubbles!" "Oh, they're going to kiss!" "Oh! I'm going to cry happy tears!" I am not talking about under her breath coments to her own group. She was talking OUT LOUD the ENTIRE show! It really ruined the show for us.

We had this problem at almost every show we saw. The family in front of us at Little Mermaid didn't shut up the whole time.

I was just getting confused because it was happening everywhere. I started thinking that maybe it was me and that those people talking weren't being rude. What's the answer? If the majority agrees that it is rude, I will (nicely) be asking these people to "shut it" on my next trip!

I don't enjoy the show when people are taling loudly and would agree that it is rude. Occasionally I will make a quiet comment right to my DH when we are at a show but I can't imagine talking through a whole show.

Some people simply don't know that they are being rude.

Others simply don't care.

Jerk or moron, the results are always the same: the rest of us suffer.

there are people out there like this. usualy the ones who like to hear themself talk and attention grabbers.

Well at least she was talking about the show!! Just think when you are at something and the people are talking about something else - LOUDLY!!!

I think there are people who just don't get out much and don't realize how loud they are. This would be annoying!

This is always a very simple situation to fix... You say "Shhhhhhhh!" then smile when they turn around. :thumbsup2

Last year we were at the Candlelight Processional and had these 3 women who would of won the rude awards! They sat in handicapped seats, talked, stood up and took pics, it was awful. I told one to please be quiet, but to no avail. Then I had this woman down from me with her husband who I thought was gonna take these 3 broads and have a rumble in the aisles (husband was trying to hide in the seat slats)!!!! Rude isn't the start of what they were!

We had the same problem with a few of the rides. Some people feel the need to offer their commentary throughout the entire ride. As much as the "It's a Small World" song can get annoying, it's even more annoying when parents feel the need to explain LOUDLY to their children which freakin' country each freakin' doll comes from.

We agree with telling these people to "SHUT THE **** UP" or a polite equivalent. I wonder if CM's would frown upon pitching these individuals over the side of the boat???

It may be the case that parents were explaining the experience to young children and/or retelling key points of the ride/story in langauge that is meaningful to young children. Granted, they shouldn't do it loudly. However, I have called attention to a specific part of a ride/show for my dd3 and given her some context for understanding it (reminding her of a book we have read or a character we have seen elswhere).

That we wouldn't have minded - unfortunately it was not the case in this circumstance.

I think that many people are so used to watching movies at home that they forget themselves when they're out... the poor lambs just can't remember that they're in a public place.

It's even more annoying when every country they name is wrong, like when their in front of the Taj Mahal. "Oh look its Egypt!", or in Mexico with the sombreros, "Oh look we're in Italy!" :rotfl2:

I bet these are the same people that talk during the movies (at the theater, not at home). What I find even worse is kids who stand, walk, and jump on the metal bleachers at Beauty and the Beast. It seems to happen every time I see that show! It's one thing if a kid wants to walk or jump on the ground, but when they're on those metal bleachers, that movement travels and makes my butt bounce. And that's just annoying.

I agree that it seems that some people have forgotten (or perhaps were never taught?) how to behave in public, and that it is different from how you behave at home -- and that with so many folks watching movies and so much tv at home, they just have bad habits that they take "out in the world" with them.

On the subject, I also think that for the same reasons (so much in-home entertainment) that many people seem to have forgotten basic respect for real, live performers. I've noticed at Disney, and at the circus, and other similar events -- that so few people bother to applaud! it's as though they don't understand that performers deserve your appreciation and feedback and that you give it by applauding -- guess this is just the other side of the coin of talking through a performance without respect for the rest of the audience OR the performers....

let's all be shining examples!

Oh crap, that's me! Sorry! I'm just trying to explain for the little ones, but I will keep it down next time! :teeth:

Don't feel bad about doing that. There is nothing wrong with telling your children about the countries. You are talking about the ride. It wouldn't bother me.
