Bigger then the ones @ GF? Just got back from GF and I am already planning a 2013 trip :cool1: and I'm hoping the rooms @ Poly are a little bigger. I love the GF, but the rooms were tiny IMO for a family of five.

Typical rooms at the Poly are around 409 sq ft, at the GF they're around 440. Just for comparison's sake, the Contemporary is right in between at 436.

The monorail resorts tend to have the largest rooms of the deluxes on property. If 5 was a tight fit at GF, you might want to take a look at the junior suites at WL, or one-bedroom villas at the DVC resorts. OKW, BLT and some villas at AKV have beds for 5 - one king bed in the master, a sofabed and twin size sleeper in the living room.

We've stayed at the GF and the Poly several times. IMO you can really tell the difference in room sizes. The Poly rooms feel so much larger to me (and we were in the Hawaii building -- some of the Poly buildings like Tahiti have even larger rooms).

FYI: If the GF room felt too small, I wouldn't consider anything at YC/BC/BW that isn't a "deluxe room" -- they are larger.

Not quite accurate for the Poly. The smallest room size is 415 sq ft, but Tokelau, Rapa Niue and Tahiti room sizes are 476 sq ft.

We were a family of 5 and have stayed at the Poly quite a bit. Of course you always want MORE space, but we've always felt comfortable at the Poly and we didn't feel like we were in each other's way. We like that the standard rooms sleep 5. :)

We have stayed at both and for some reason the rooms at the Poly seem bigger to me :confused3. I don't know if it's the furniture and the way it's configured or what, but the Poly rooms seem to be a little more spacious :).

Although I have not stayed at GF, it looks from the pictures I have seen that the bathroom area at GF takes up more space than the Poly bathroom. GF has the seperate sinks outside the toilet/tub room where Poly bathrooms are all in one room and more compact. The rooms in Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui are so large that they have 2 padded armchairs instead of the standard one chair. Very roomy.....by Disney standards ;)

I was thinking the same thing -- that the bathroom at the GF must take up more space since the square feet listed shows that the GF rooms are larger.

For some reason, though, IMO the rooms at the Poly seem much more spacious to me than the ones at the GF. (We like both resorts, though).

Thanks everyone! We had two rooms @ GF this past time only because we let oldest DD (15) bring a friend. The next trip it will just be the 5 of us.

Maybe I could request one of the buildings with the bigger rooms and hope for the best!

Is there a mirror outside the bathroom that oldest DD and I could use to do hair/makeup if other people were using the bathroom?

We are a family of 5 also, and do find the rooms at the Poly more spacious. I agree that the GF bathrooms, though fabulous, do take up a lot of room space. The drawer storage space is better at the Poly too. Last summer we stayed at the GF, but my oldest DS didn't come. We were fine with 4 in a room, but 5 would have been tight. I'd still go in a heartbeat, crowded or not!!

Not to be a downer but if you found the GF rooms to be smallish for a party of 5, I don't think you will see an appreciable difference at even the largest standard Poly room. My suggestion would be to book a deluxe room which is more or less a junior suite or do two rooms.

We have done the deluxe at most of the resorts that offer them and it makes a big difference as most are around 650-700 sq feet. You will have to check occupancy as I know the queen deluxe that we stay in at GF has an occupancy of 4 (weird I know as the room is huge but just a regular sofa).

I have stayed at both resorts numerous times and I just don't want you to get there and think "wow, this is smaller than I thought it would feel."

We have stayed at both and Poly does feel bigger-we like Tokelau for the extra space. We rent a full size crib and dd likes to sleep on the sofa bed and we still have enough room for son to play without feeling so cramped.
