We were discussing this lastw eekend, concerning Beach Club

Do you think there is a higher level of service and cleaning in the hotel vs. the DVC rooms ...

I have no different expectations from Disney Hotels and DVC Resorts. I expect both to be clean. My experience in 20+ Disney Visits has shown no difference between Disney hotels and DVC resorts in the matter of cleanliness.

I agree with Robin...

We also have over 20 visits to WDW & have stayed at DVC resorts on both points and cash & haven't noticed any difference in cleanliness between the DVC resorts & non DVC resorts.

Our dirtiest rooms in all of our Orlando trips were The Portofino Bay @ Universal & the Grosvenor (I know, they're not Disney resorts)

We did have a room with quite a little bug problem at the CBR, but other than that, we've been totally happy with every Disney room we've occupied. :sunny:

We have not noticed a single difference in that regard the cleaning staff at Disney is always great and no matter wether it is the hotel or DVC if you have a problem they are pretty good at promptly coming to adress it.

I have noticed a difference in the quality of TP

I'm not sure that the regular housekeepers understand the differences of a DVC resort.
Yes, there are toasters that make crumbs underneath. Yes, many guests eat food in the villas, and there may be food droppings on the kitchen floor. Yes, these villas may go a week without a cleaning, and may require extra attention after a week of build up.

In my opinion, housekeeping is the weakest link in DVC. :worried:

We have never noticed that at OKW, MG. Maybe that's because it is exclusively DVC and not combined with a hotel resort.

Our experience is that there is no difference between DVC/Hotel rooms in this regard. All have been clean when we've checked in! :)

Now, no flames please, but I do have to agree with other's who say that the Mousecleaning is not as good as it could be at DVC villas. We used 3 different rooms at VWL and Vero last month and in ALL the rooms everyone noticed that they were not as clean as they should have been.

Having said all that, it only took 15 minutes with the carpet cleaner to us to make everything clean and tidy. I know that some will say that we shouldn't have had to do that but it did only take 15 minutes.

And it certainly didn't make any difference to the fact that we had lovely accomodation in the best place in the World!!

first of all - i love your little guy that tells me my isp and operating system etc. neat!

I think at OKW the rooms aren't always as clean as they could be. Dust here or there or some mold in the shower. It doesn't bother me at all. Could that be because they don't have mousekeeping every day?

I totally agree. DVC rooms are not as clean as hotel stays we've had. The bottom line is there is just more to clean and many more hard to reach areas. I'm not unhappy with the level of cleanliness just not thrilled either.

The only un-clean room (and it was very unclean) we've ever gotten was old key west.

It really was in bad shape. I mean big hair/dust balls on the floor, food stains on the floor and appliances, obviously dirty carpets, trash under the beds, just nasty stuff. It just felt grody. And there wasn't any other room in the inn, okw was booked 100% (it was April, the week after Easter) so we were stuck with it. And since we weren't in the room until after 4 (actually, I think they were late giving us the room) there wasn't any housekeeping to fix it. We did a lot of cleaning ourselves that night. We were pretty ticked at the time. We went back to the main building, but the management didn't really do anything to help the situation out other then tell us they were booked up and couldn't move us to another room.

It was a weekend check-in, and the next day the maid came and gave the room a complete re-cleaning. She explained that this was her regular area, and that a different crew had been there the day before on her day off. And I admit that it was in much better shape after that second cleaning and was fine.

The only thing that has come close to that was one time checking in to BCV when I know they changed our room before we got it (they had said it was on one floor when we checked in, but when we finally got it - again after 4 - it was on a different floor). When we got in that bcv room the floor was sopping wet and they had those big fans going full blast. Again, no more rooms in the inn (seems to be always the case at bcv). Every other stay at DVC the housekeeping has been great (3x bwv, 3 or 4 wlv, 4 or 5 bcv, some trips with multiple rooms). I've had a couple of regular rooms where I thought the cleaning could have been a little better, fwiw.

We had just the opposite expeience at VWL last month. When we entered the room, a supervisor was inspecting it. She noticed that we didn't have enough towels, and that a pillow was missing. So she got on a two-way radio and a staffer showed up moments later with the missing items.

So I guess that means that houskeeping is inconsistent, which is a problem too.

In my own experiences, DVC cleanliness isnt quite up to par with the cash resorts on Disney property, which is logical. The rooms get cleaned once every 8 days except in cases where the new guests are checking in after stays of less than 8 days(atleast thats my understanding). Maybe someone could chime in on this, if a member stays 5 days and then checks out, is there a full cleaning of that unit guaranteed? I would think yes, but Ive had a pretty skeeevy room at BCV at check in once. Still my fav DVC resort though.

I think in general, DVC cleanliness standards are very good compared to other timeshares.

Had about the same instance of clean versus not very clean rooms in DVC and regular resorts. Housekeeping all over WDW is generally okay to pretty good, not spectacular.

The only really serious housekeeping issue I ever encountered was at the Dolphin, and that was a one time thing (hopefully) and I'd still go back there.

A few years ago my parents were checked in at 6 pm to the Contemporary to a connecting room to ours, and the room had not been cleaned at all.
