Are the Mods a lot better than the Values for 2 adults?

So far we've only stayed at the Pop Century and the Boardwalk Villas. I would love to stay at the Boardwalk Villas again, but with the free dining offer this is a spur of the moment trip.

I know what to expect from Pop Century, but will I be disappointed in the difference with the in room quality/ammenities of a mod compared to Pop Century? Since it was just my girlfriend at the Pop Century, it really didn't feel too small.
Would I be disappointed with a mod after enjoying the space of a BWV studio room? Thanks!

I enjoy all levels of resorts at WDW. If you can afford it, I would go with a moderate. You'll have a bit more room, the rooms will be nicer and you will have a hot tub near the pool. I would recommend CSR for two adults. IMO it's very romantic.

I find that the biggest difference is the theming. It's "big" (at the value resorts) versus "rich" (at the moderate resorts). Also, you can get a pretty decent meal at the moderates, while you're stuck with food court food at the value resorts.

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR offers babysitting/childcare services and valet service cleaning - laundry bags and price lists are found in the closet of each room. Service is available 7 days a week, call Housekeeping for pick up.

CSR also has a salon, spa, and a gym that other moderates do not offer. CSR has full menu room service and offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages.

It is also the only mod to offer suites.

CSR is situated around a 15 acre lake and CBR is situated around a 45 acre lake.

CSR has terrific transportation. It does not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR is the most central to the 3 parks you mentioned. See the map below.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property. Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.

  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

I actually love the theming of the values. I am never "stuck" with food court food.
Disney's value resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney theming, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)

When I am at Disney I spend my time in the parks, dining at the resorts and/or parks, shopping or just exploring. So the room size at the values does not bother me.
I love the theming of the All Stars.
It is like I just stepped into a Disney Movie Fantasland. :goodvibes

The room size of a mod is just a bit more than a value.
I really did not notice much difference.

So unless you do not like the theming of the values or you really want a hot tub It is not worth the extra money.

Have fun at Disney!

I personally love the theming of Pop Century and the Central Pool is plenty big! Seems to me that, personally, I wouldnt really enjoy a mod more than a value. I'll just book BWV next year!

I would have to say yes. I have stayed at All Stars Movies. It was OK but room too small for my taste. I like the Mods much better. I will be trying POP this year as I had to add 2 days to my Nov. trip and choose POP but transfering to WL after.

Just back from a split stay at ASMU and CBR. I am so grateful that we stayed at ASMU first and for only two nights. Even though we had stayed there before and thought it to be OK, I will never do so again. Once we got to CBR we felt that we were officially on vacation. What a HUGE difference. I feel that if I am going on vacation, I should have a little better and not be just ok with my hotel. The rooms at ASMU were SOOOOO loud. I could hear everything from other rooms in addition to the sound of people passing by our room. We were also told by CBR that ASMU would provide transportation the morning of your transfer. Well an hour later of waiting which did not seem to have an end in sight, and horrendous customer service from the bell staff at ASMU we found ourselves in a taxi to CBR. I feel that CBR and all moderates are built much better than the values and to me it is well worth the extra money. We are also just two adults and in my opinion it is not a question between a moderate or a value. Have a great time!

I would also go w/ a moderate. CSR is a beautiful resort and very romantic for a couple. That would be my vote.

Wow!
I am so sorry to hear you had a disappointing stay at All Star Music.
Since I do love the All Stars and post on these boards how much I enjoy them I wish you would give me a little more info about your room location.
My stays have always been quiet but I need a HA room so my room is usually ground floor in the Calypso Building facing the playground.

I also keep my bathroom door closed and have not heard any noise from the turbo toilets. My DH is a builder and he taught me that trick because noise can travel through the plumbing.

I had never heard that bell service would provide transportation for guests to another resort during a split stay.
I know they will transfer your luggage and that you need to make arrangements for transfer the night before your transfer.
Do you prearrange the transfer the night before?

I need to know since I am splitting my next stay also. I am staying in a regular All Star Music room for a week then transfering to the New Family Suites at All Star Music for a few days so I will need my luggaged transfered.

This is what I posted on the disABILITIES board a couple of weeks ago.

"I had a bad experience at CBR several years ago.
It does sour a person.
I will never stay at CBR again because of the horrific memories it would bring back to me.
Lots of people on these boards cannot say enough good things about CBR and just love it. I think that is wonderful and wish everyone a great stay
which ever resort they choose.
But that was just my bad experience.

Bad experiences can and do happen at all levels of the resorts. I have read threads where posters have had bad experience at the deluxe resorts as well."

I am glad your stay at CBR was much better.
Thanks for your post.

Our room was in the Jazz building facing the parking lot. When we were checking out of ASMU in the morning I called CBR resort and they informed me that ASMU would provide transportation to CBR. Maybe they were wrong? I really am not sure. I would think thought that if you are transferring between Disney resorts, this would be a perk. Wonder if this is true or not?

Thanks for your reply.

I just started a thread asking about spit stay and transportation:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=12377203#post12377203

Sammie is very knowlegeable and she replied that Disney only transports luggage between resorts not people.

I am so sorry you misunderstood CBR and wasted an hour waiting.

I am glad the rest of your stay was enjoyable.

Anything to keep you entertained. :cool1:
Hope we did answer a few of your questions.

Sorry I got so off topic.

Peace :hippie:

Anytime my DH and I have been able to go to Disney we stay at a Moderate. They are more romantic, have an onsite sit down restaurant, bigger, less "motely" feeling plus I find that the activities are better at mods.
