Are the dessert parties worth it?

Was looking at doing the Symphony in the Stars party, but am balking at the $250 price tag for DW and our 3 oldest kids. Just don't know if I see us consuming that much dessert and adult beverages (considering we stay offsite and have to drive) to make it worth it. Has anyone done this one or any of the similar ones? Do they run until park close?

If you're only considering the volume of food/drink in your assessment of value, then I would say it's not worth it. But, if you add in not having to stake out a spot for fireworks, being in a comfortable area and not in jockeying for space in a crowded area, then the value shoots way up. We have only done the Wishes one, but will definitely do the Star Wars one if it's still being offered when we go next. But for us the food is really secondary, it's the overall experience we enjoy.

We've only done the Wishes version. We enjoyed it. It was a special treat and I'm glad we tried it but I can't forsee us really doing this again while we have young kids. Maybe once it's just DH and I we will do more of them. But the price tag for a family to do it is a bit much in our minds.

I did the World of Color one. I think the view and reserved seating was great and the actual desserts themselves were delicious and there was a ton of them. We couldn't eat them all. It was like 7 desserts each. But, it took a while to check everybody in so by the time we got seated and served the show started like 10 mins later. It was a more adult environment as well. I don't remember seeing many children.

That's true, and I'm definitely willing to take that into consideration. Not sure if this SW party is that conducive to little ones though, at least from the pictures I've seen. They don't seem to have seating - it's all standing tables. With four kids, I have limited shoulder space.

YepYep. We do a couple a year. This year will be ferry tale and Symphony.

We've done two (Star Wars weekend and Osborne Lights). The Star Wars one was definitely worth it. Granted, it's a little different than the one you are referring to because it was during Star Wars weekend and part of a package we purchased for the day and it was SUPER crowded because of the event. It allowed us to simply saunter in after our dinner, grab some desserts and a table and see the show. No jockeying for a spot or having to wait a long time. We certainly did not eat or drink enough to get any "worth" out of the cost. It really was more about not waiting and getting a great spot without crowds. If that's what you are looking for, only you can determine if $250 is worth it to you.

I say yes but DH says no. We did the one at MK and it was fun (and we got to sit down). DD and I wanted to do the one at HS this June but we will probably pass since we are doing some other expensive things. If it is still offered next year, maybe we will do it. Or maybe we can talk DH into doing it this year

I'm not a big sweets fan. We did the Wishes Dessert Party, before they stopped assigning seats. We enjoyed the experience, and I wouldn't be opposed to doing it again, but it isn't a must-do and not something I'm ever going to prioritize.

We did the dessert party for Fantastic when they offered it at DLR. The desserts were fine but the location for viewing made it worth it for us. We are doing Symphony when we go to WDW in June. For us it's about the experience as a whole and treating my young niece and nephew to something.

for us it is worth it, not for the food (but thats a bonus), but for the ability to NOT spend time staking out a spot an hour+ for us. Granted, we go in very busy times, so the convenience value may be less during slower times.

DW and I did the dessert party on two different trips at MK. That was when there was assigned seating, we would do it again if they had assigned seating, we are not lining up 1 hour or more in advance to grab a seat, that was what was good about assigned seating, we could do things in MK until about 15-20 min before it opened up. We also did the party at HS in December 2014, don't remember the name now but it was on the end of the street with osbourne lights, glad we did it once, but for the price, probably wouldn't do it again, can't complain about the food or drinks, just thought it was a little pricey.

I'm doing the Illuminations dessert party on our next trip. I have social anxiety, and don't do well in the middle of huge crowds, so the value to me is in not worrying about finding a viewing spot, or being stuck in a wall of people while trying to enjoy the show. The desserts are an added bonus!
