Are the CS credits for kids and adults pooled or separate?

To add to your question, I know a popular use of CS credits is for the Main Street Bakery--2 items and a beverage for one credit. Can you do this in any of the other parks? For example, Kusafari Coffee Shop and Bakery in AK, Starring Rolls or Cup o' Joe To Go in MGM, anywhere in Epcot?

This question was asked earlier in the thread and I am still waiting to hear an answer. Can anyone out there help?

Tina

Haven't done it myself, but I do remember reading about a DISer doing the same at Boulangerie Patisserie in France. :thumbsup2

We returned from the world on 2/20 and at that time.....CS credits were still pooled. You get one receipt that states how many total credits you have remaining.

Even when I would order (I was one adult and 3 kids), the CM's would say, "so you are using 4 credits?"

So then, as of now, they are not even kept track of differently at any point? Just CS...it's not like in the computer somewhere it does day Child CS and Adult CS? My worry would be losing track of it, and accidentally using the wrong one - so if it's not broken up on the receipt, they're all even?

Originally, Disney relied on the integrity of their guests to use both CS and TS credits in the proper proportion. They've recently incurred the costs involved in reprogramming the system to track TS credits separately for adults and children, but they're still relying on the integrity of their guests to use CS credits in the proper proportion. It isn't clear when and if they'll incur the costs involved in making that change in enforcement.

Good to know DGS actually loves Mac & cheese so if thats a kids choice he'll be happy but if it's chilled chicken or PBJ as choices Sorry he's getting something he likes. Disney has made a big mistake with these new kids menus so I would order or share with him from adult menu.

Please just share with him, then, or purchase something for him OOP. I am very concerned about folks discussing cheating Disney by knowingly violating the terms and conditions of the Dining Plan. Each guest has a choice whether to patronize the Dining Plan. If you're unhappy with the offering, please don't purchase it.

Yes, as of right now, all CS meals are "equal". I use that term without implying any deceit, just how the computer is currently tracking CS meals. We were 1 adult and 3 children. At TS meals, I would get one receipt for the adult credits and one for the children. At CS, I would get one receipt with the total number of CS credits remaining. Does that make sense?

I certainly never felt that anything was hard to keep track of.

I will be using most of the kids CS credits for DD's breakfasts and snack credits for my own and at lunch I plan on getting an adult CS meal and using a snack credit for an extra order of fries or whatever and sharing the meal with my DD.

I never had any intention of cheating but it plain isn't fair to the kids to be stuck with such awful choices. All the kids love salad, pasta and veggies why couln't that be a choice. By kids I meant mine. I plan on us sharing at MK Cosmic Rays Combo meal looks like enough for 2 or 3 unless they've reduced portions!!

If you don't feel that Dining Plan offers good choices, you can elect not to purchase it. Many families will be best off paying for meals OOP and just forgetting the Dining Plan.

well that's good to know...people have talked about keeping track of how many child credits and how many adult credits they had left, so I started to worry that we would have to keep track of it all...and for the record, I am not out to deceit anyone with it...just trying to figure out how it works - I'm sure for the most part we'll be getting all four of our CS meals at once.

It would be very easy to do the DDP, and just supplement OOP for kids that want more food or something that's not on the children's menu. If parents would just stop and think about it, it makes financial sense. Good heavens, the kid's price on the DDP is $28 less than the adult price! Any TS meal that's a buffet or family style all you care to eat, the kids get the exact same meal, choices, and amounts as adults. For other TS and CS parents could always share some of their own meal, or buy their child something extra OOP. Or use a snack credit for something extra after dinner -- how many people are saying they have snack credits left at the end of their trip?

And seriously, if your kid drank the beverage from the CS meal and threw the rest in the garbage, you'd still come out ahead after the TS and the snack credit. Buying them a whole adult CS meal in addition would be a lot less than $28. Aside from the sugar-free Jello and some of the specific CS offerings that sound pretty bad, there are quite a few that sound much more varied and interesting, especially in Epcot -- pizza, burgers, turkey subs, sweet and sour chicken, burritos, kebabs, teriyaki chicken...

Haven't even gotten there yet, but maybe I'll just write a book about this :rotfl2:

I agree with Katiebell and Bicker. I haven't used the plan yet so I can't speak from first hand experience. But the way I see it even if you bought your child a complete adult cs meal and an adult desert at ts, with the cost of the childs ddp you still come out under the cost of the adult price. And in all honesty most parents will make a way bigger deal out of it, bad cs choices I mean, than the kids ever will. After all it is Disney world, at least my child is way to excited about what to do next to pay alot of attention to what she is or is not eating. just my 2 cents.

I think it really depends how long you are staying. My kids will probably be cool with the lack of choices and lame desserts for the first few days, but after a while, I know SF jello isn't going to cut it. Yes, my DH and I will pay OOP, but it is rather annoying that there isn't more variety. How hard is it? Really, the price differential between SF Jello and say, a popsicle or cupcake can't be that big a deal, can it?

I think it's a matter of streamlining things. It may be easier for Disney in terms of ordering, managing, whatever...it just isn't very "magical".

Don't even get me started on the lack of vegetarian options for kids. It may only be 10.99 a day but they've got to be a little more creative and flexible than what I hear on these boards. Trust me, it was hard for my vegetarian daughter before the changes...

Now before I get flamed and told not to by the DDP and blah, blah, blah...remember, I'm just weighing in here. I will buy the DDP. We will eat at many buffets. We will try to adjust. And...most importantly, we will have fun.

It is just a shame that there is a lack of variety in the name of nutrition. And, although I use Spenda myself, I do not give it to my kids because there just isn't enough info out there yet about long term or even short term effects. (I am old enough to remember when saccharin was supposed to be healthy!)

We are not going until August and I'll be sure to report back. Hopefully, by then, the folks at Disney will have worked the kinks out...

I think the issue is the combination of expectations: variety and quality and the insanely low price. I think folks need to understand that with restaurants, there is a trade-off, and as long as we're talking $10.99 per day, variety and quality will be sacrificed to justify that low price.

Point taken...but folks, let's not give Disney victim status. Disney is making an insane amount of money with the DDP...Many people I know are eating many more sit-down meals because of DDP... Why not have a drink or two with dinner? Those drinks are OOP-money right in the pockets of Disney.

The bottom line for me is that I see Disney as a quality vacation experience. It has always been heads and shoulders above other outfits because of its saavy marketing and meticulous attention to detail. I don't want to let them off the hook, so to speak, in any area. I want my expectations to remain high--Disney has a reputation of exceeding recommendations. It's the little stuff (like spotty housekeeping, chipping paint, the occasional rude CM, less than flexible dining plans) that starts to add up to feeling of loss or a yearning for the good old days. It would be sad to see that Disney Magic be a thing of the past.

And as far as price, Disney is charging adult prices for any kids over 9. Again, we are all willing to pay the high price because we have come to expect quality and variety. Folks understand that 10.99 is cheap for their young children. It is yet another trade-off. Our 10 yr olds are adults and cost 38.99 --our under 10s are cheap at 10.99!

Folks are even willing to be figuratively held captive by using the ME and then buy the DDP. Great marketing! Just wish they'd use some of that famous Disney creativity to come up with some variety in the kids' menus!

I agree that Disney isnt' a victim. Rather, we need to understand that this is a zero-sum game: If we get more value (and yes, convenience in a captive market situation is value, whether we like it or not), we pay higher prices. If we get less value, we pay lower prices. To a great extent it all boils down to what the general public wants, and unfortunately that doesn't necessarily coincide with what any one of us wants.

To be honest I would have paid the adult price for DGS age 5 rather thandeal with choice problems. We are eating many buffet meals which really do solve the problem ,Dgs also loves Mac & cheese, grapes and applesauce but if his sisters are getting steak and hamburgers etc eventually he will not be happy!!
