Are the chutes on Splash Mountain working?

Have a question for someone who's been there within the last few weeks:

Last spring, the chutes on Splash Mountain were working again for the first time in awhile. By chutes, I mean the intense sprays of water that completely SOAK the boats passing in front of the big drop as a boat goes down the big drop. We got completely, absolutely DRENCHED - not splashed - when we were hit by one of those directly.

On our early October trip, the chutes were once again off. I asked a cast member and they thought that the effect was broken, not turned off. So we rode many times, since it's one of our favorites. :lovestruc

We will be going the end of May again, so, anyone who has been there lately, are the chutes working again? We LOVE Splash Mountain - but not Drenched Mountain, lol! :rotfl:

They were working on March 17.

We would have gotten drenched, had it not been for our trusty ponchos! :)

that great news i haven't seen them working in my last 4 trips.hope there working when i get there thursday:banana:

What gives I never got drenched may have gotten wet but not drenched. Did they change something here since 2006. I have never heard anyone getting drenched.

They turn them off in cooler weather, and let them soke you down when it is hot....Nothing wrong with them....

They also had them on in Feb, which I must say, was not very hot. I was hoping/figuring they'd have them off. I got totally soaked! LOVE the ride, hate the "chutes"! Poncho next time, for sure!!!

When the chutes are turned on, you can get drenched. I always ride Splash with a poncho now, getting drenced is not my idea of fun.

They were working last month when we were there. The girls in the front got soaked :)

When we were there in February, they were definitely on. However, we only got drenched twice & we rode about 6 times total.

This is because the timing of the chutes was not quite right except those 2 times. The other times, the big splash would hit between the 2 flumes & not directly on them.

I LOVE getting the big splash though!:lmao:

The "chutes" in an attraction are the DROPS... where the vehicle goes down an embankment.

The name for what is being described here is "Water Cannon"
(or other cute and colorful Disney proprietary name. ;) )

A water cannon will "shoot" water at the vehicles and guests.

(It doesn't really matter... but since the thread keeps going on, and I thought
I should point that out.)

Not always true. I was there January 16-24 this year. The high temperature on the day we rode was around 50 degrees and we got SOAKED. The worst part was that I told the rest of my party - "Don't worry - we won't get really wet since it's so cold out." Ha! We had to go back to the hotel to change clothes immediately!

The more correct statement is that they CAN turn them on and off.

Whether they WILL or not, is an entirely different discussion.

Thank you-I was trying to think of the proper word, but wasn't sure. :thumbsup2
