My perspective is a little different. Weve done the buffets and although the food is okay, it isnt great and most of the buffets seem about the same. With so many great restaurants at WDW, I dont want to settle for just okay food. Plus, we just arent that interested in character meals anymore.
We were there last week and ate at the new Tusker House for the first time. That buffet was better than most with choices that were a bit more varied.
In September, the only buffet well be dining at is Biergarten, where we havent eaten in a while. For a 7-14 day trip, we usually do no more than 1 or 2 buffets, and often none.
From the point of view of cost, I think the value is okay, but I think they are way overpriced for the quality of the food. You are definitely paying for the character aspect of the meal. So I think you have to factor in how important the character interaction is to you.
