I send my Mom loads of information about the various restaurants and many that she wanted to try are buffets. Do you think it's a good value on the DDP's? I don't like the idea of having to serve myself but do like the variety.

Has anyone done the Cape May clam bake? Opinions wanted please....

very much so. They're all you can eat, and normally very good.

We have done the cape may clambake and liked it. We do 1/2 and 1/2 on buffets and table serivce. We have 2 little ones and most of the charachter stuff we do is buffets. Other good ones are Boma if you like flavor and variety and Biergarten. When on vacation we don't want the same food that we can get at home.
Enjoy!

We preferred to use our TS for sit down dinner rather than buffets.....I enjoyed being waited on:goodvibes But, the few buffets we did, were good, but tended to have the same food. I will say that I preferred the breakfast buffets over the dinner.

We tend to lean toward the buffets. We have three kids and the buffets tend to make it easier. Plus, my DH is a big eater and at least with buffets he can eat his little heart out.

we did buffets last year
dd was 1 and ate off our plates
and kyle was 9 so it gave him the adult option for food
instead of the same old kids choices!

I am on the DDP with DH and 18 month old DS. We are doing mostly the character buffets hoping there will be a variety of food for DS.

Anyway, If you use an average of 26.99 for a buffet dinner, you are left with $11 to spend the rest of the day for breakfast/lunch and snack. If you spend the $11, you break even and any more you are ahead on the plan. Same with if your dinner buffet costs more...or if it costs less...

For us, I think $11 per person for food in a day would probably be no problem. After reading the board, some may feel that would be alot, but I don't think it will be hard for us.

Figure out which buffets and go from there. If you think you will just break even everyday, it may still be worth it for the pay ahead factor...just some thoughts.

My perspective is a little different. We’ve done the buffets and although the food is okay, it isn’t great and most of the buffets seem about the same. With so many great restaurants at WDW, I don’t want to settle for just ‘okay’ food. Plus, we just aren’t that interested in character meals anymore.

We were there last week and ate at the new Tusker House for the first time. That buffet was better than most with choices that were a bit more varied.

In September, the only buffet we’ll be dining at is Biergarten, where we haven‘t eaten in a while. For a 7-14 day trip, we usually do no more than 1 or 2 buffets, and often none.

From the point of view of cost, I think the value is okay, but I think they are way overpriced for the quality of the food. You are definitely paying for the character aspect of the meal. So I think you have to factor in how important the character interaction is to you.

We enjoy the buffet, the variety of food and the character interactions. I am not a big eater so I rarely finish my meal so at the buffet I can do a smaller portions and I dont feel guilty. Also with kids (at least mine) who knows what food they will like at that day and time and since there is a selection the kids can get multiple things, plus it gives them a sense of adventure as they can try new things. Plus buffet is quick sitting down and relaxing just dont work for us right now (maybe someday) Bottom line for me I am not cooking so I am happy

We are doing a majority of buffets, that way there is not alot of waiting for our food and its all you can eat with lots of variety.:thumbsup2

Simply put, dinner buffets are good value with the DDP. Breakfast or Lunch buffets are not a good value with the DDP.

Darlak...I feel the way you do. The buffet menus all seem to be the same. Since my Mom really wants to do the Cape May Clam bake, I think we'll do that and I'll suggest some other restaurants she might like. Never having done the buffets..are you seated by a hostess or do you need to scout out a table? I hope you're seated because otherwise it just sounds like a headache.

The Buffets are sat just like a regular table service meal. You check in and they call you when your table is ready for you. In addition, the buffet food is really good and character interaction is fun!
